Was this just a post to stir up trouble?
    Yes

And on the subject of why companies like Boots have really good sales these bring customers in who will buy other things. I went into Boots on Tuesday and they had nothing left, so I bought a £2.99 meal deal instead. Scrummy. :D
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.
  • I thought this was MoneySavingExpert not MoneyMakingExpert !!!;)

I have no intention of buying to sell, never have never will. To those people that do..........it's none of my business, although it is a little unfair to everyone else hunting for a bargain. Who am I to dictate what someone else should be allowed to do or not do in this situation.

Just keep it to yourself.......Im not interested in how much money you are going to make - only if I personally can save myself money.

Why wont you guys get off your highhorses, stop judging people and help others take advantage of great offers..........SAVING money !!!
Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue

I looked everywhere for the ps2 buzz pack as soon as this thread started but couldn't find one. It didn't occurr to me to phone CS to do a nationawide check as I had asked in the shops itself.....really wanted it for a gift too :(

Congratulations to those who managed to grab a bargain :)
  • Saving money would not be buying a ps2 that you don't really need if you truly are 'saving money' ;):p

How is someones want for a cheap console more important than someone who is having to ebay to help support his family and put food on the table and using a cheap deal a way to help?

A bit of fun for you could make the difference between no frills and a nice meal.

Who are you to judge to make the ebayers these "bad evil people"? Just because you want a bit of fun on an almost dead console?

    How,

Because the "rules" and "ethos" of these forums are

    - Be nice to other MONEYSAVERS (not MONEYMAKERS)
    - Do not post links for personal gain
    - No buying, selling and profiteering off members.
    - Cut down on exploitation of consumers by helping each other take advantage of big business.
    - Don't use this place as a place to "exploiting" other members.

The ethos of this forum is about Moneysaving, not Moneymaking, it is about a community seeking to help others, not exploit and profit from them.

If we don't have some rules, an ethos, some common ground rule, and a clear purpose, then there is no point to these forums.

Please read what you have written about these impoverished ebay sellers trying to feed their family !

So somebody is so desperate for a meal, they tie up several hundred pounds in items to sell on Ebay, taking the risk of making a loss, and tying up the cash for several weeks if it takes ten days for the item to sell and seven days for a cheque to clear. People who are truly that skint would not be stupid enough ... I really don't think we are talking about those in need of "a meal" ...

Personally, on a number of recent "Grabbits" I had information I decided not to post. I PMed people who seemed genuine. I decided against posting it as I thought that putting it on a public forum would only encourage the "vultures" and not the genuine. Result, MSE forums not as useful and efficient as they should be, to everybody's detriment.

So basically you've appointed yourself moral guardian of the forum then? You have some special power that enables you to see into people's hearts and decide if they're genuine and you're using that power for the good of us mere mortals. Good on you sir. That's not at all condescending or pompous.

Does anyone know how much the official docking stations were in the sale - edinburgh had some when I was up there for the festival at the weekend but they weren't marked as reduced and I didn't think to ask.

No, I'm afraid I have not appointed myself anything, nor do I have some special powers.

Through following/participating in several threads I had been lucky in getting a bargain, thanks to my helpful fellow MSE ers. And on those threads it was clear that that some fellow MSEers had put a great deal of time and effort into trying to locate something and had had no luck. Thanks to the help and assistance of fellow MSE ers I benefitted - so in repaying that in several particular cases I reserved the items, then PMed the other members letting them know where the items were, who I had reserved them with, under what name and so on helping them get lucky too.

MSE ers have been kind enough to help me. I try to help MSE ers back.

Altruism, empathy and community spirit is what gives these forums any semblance of value. But if you don't like that way of operating, perhaps try a forum where the ethos is more to your liking.

I have no opinion I want to share about whether or not ebayers should be allowed to buy grabbits, but, it takes money to make money, you have to invest to get a return, so why wouldn't someone trying to feed their family be canny enough to invest and try to profit/make life a little better/easier? Its called business and you don't have to be rich to attempt to 'grow' your money.

Most popular official items were mainly half price, but some more unusual offical items were 75% off, i.e ipod mini armband.

Generic / 3rd party items were mainly 75% off.

Boots in the Kensington tube station has some official and generic items in the upstairs photo department. Hope that helps somebody !
