£10 postage overcharge - Leave a negative?

If an individual had sold you the item and overcharged for P&P then it could be that they overestimated the cost. They likely haven't sold the same item before and don't have 100% accurate scales at home.
If it's a business, which the OP says it is then they likely know the exact cost of what it costs to post and are inflating the P&P charge and defalting the starting bid on the basis that it will appear higher up in searches when you search by price.0

I wouldnt if the total price was something i was happy with. it dont matter to me if the seller gets his profit from the postage or the sale. if the price is good i will compare it to other delivered prices.SallyForth wrote: »No, nobody makes the buyer buy, the buyer wants the goods, and is accepting the price charged on posting and packing. But, are they not accepting the price charged on the basis that it is a fair and reasonable price? They are depending upon the Seller to be fair and reasonable at this point, they are assuming the price is what it will cost to post and pack the item they have purchased.
The problem, as I see it, is when on receipt of the goods, that charge turns out to be clearly overinflated? The buyer may not care, but why wouldn't a buyer equally feel they have been misled?
I think the OP is being a terrible buyer in this situation. they got the item for £30 LESS than elsewhere and now it seems they are trying to get £10 or give him negitive.
I hope i never have the OP buy off me. regardless of what the postage is on an item.
I also hopes it breaks so they have to return it. i bet they's be happy to pay less on postage thenIf i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0

Personally, if you have had a reply and it wasn't a mistake then I would leave a positive but mark down the P&P star only. (Good item, good comms, quick depatch = positive for me regardless of the P&P cost).
Oh and btw, if you paid by PayPal then remember that the price to the seller was not £8.95, but £8.95*1.034 = £9.25 - I know it's only pence but it does add up Plus an (small) amount for packaging. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 Plus an (small) amount for packaging. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

That highlighted part is just laughable. You haven't a clue how businesses work have you?Alias_Omega wrote: »
Postage as £19.99, was initially happy as i thought it would cost the earth to move. Item arrived this morning, upon checking postage label. Price paid to fastway couriers was £8.95.
The seller is an electrical wholsesaler, so the staff would be around anyway, who would of shipped the items in bulk from the permises. The courier would of collected.
 We calculate overcharge of £11.04.
Do you know whether the price includes or excludes VAT?
Do you even know what VAT is? You don’t appear to know about other business costs.
Did you read the bit about minimum purchases? Maybe the seller can't use all his labels and it actually costs him more than £8.95.
The seller won’t care about any negative you give him. Even the best of businesses gets the occasional Richard Head buying from them.
I calculate "should not be allowed to use a computer without close supervision". :A0

 Good idea!!
maybe i would start selling on ebay again if under added cost for P 'n'P you could budget in:
''added cost for silly whinging buyers.''!!:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0

I have found this with Ebay - you need to watch what the 'postage' charge is - once you click that button to buy you are accepting it.
If you thought it was high you maybe should of asked before you bought.
Another thing buyers forget is the combined postage....sometimes something looks really cheap on Ebay so they buy 2 or 3 items - get a small discount off postage and then moan like hell when the items arrive in one package for a fraction of what the postage actually costs.
I'd say just accept it but be more careful next time!0
