This item -

ebay

Postage as £19.99, was initially happy as i thought it would cost the earth to move. Item arrived this morning, upon checking postage label. Price paid to fastway couriers was £8.95.

The seller is an electrical wholsesaler, so the staff would be around anyway, who would of shipped the items in bulk from the permises. The courier would of collected.

We calculate overcharge of £11.04.

I will edit this post with a picture of the parcel when they upload.

Contact the seller and complain if the response is not to your satisfaction then consider the feedback. At least give the seller a chance to rectify the situation

I agree with CyberBob. Could be a genuine mistake (or not).

ETA: Just saw what item was and tbh would've expected the seller to know roughly how much to charge for it.

Sorry to say, but by bidding/purchasing on an item you are agreeing to the terms i.e. postage rate as described. OK you could say that the seller is overpricing postage in order to aviod further FV fees, however as we no this is common practice but as l say its our choice to proceed with a purchase.

Of course you have the DSR and feedback to vent your disappointment to the seller

No, you are agreeing merely to pay, you are not agreeing that you think it is fair.

The excuse 'everyone does it' is an excuse usually churned out by people who believe it is good practice to hide their charges in this way, it is not usual practice for the vast majority of sellers.

Personally here I would do as th eother suggest and ask the seller if it is a mistake. If they say no then I would still leave a positive or possibly a neutral mentioning postage excessive as the goods (I assume) are OK, but seriously hit the stars. Stars are almost more important that feedback, it is hard to get banned for poor feedback, it is a lot easier for poor stars.

The cheapest you can get that item anywhere else is £99.99 delivered. You got it for £69.98. If it was buy it now with free postage at the price of £69.98 you would be happy?
Once again - people stressing out over enforcing rules for a company you do not work for. I don't sell like this, but I don't give a monkeys who does.
The seller is making an extra quid from fee avoidance. Anyone selling a set of stocks on ebay?
Should you leave a negative? If you wish. With a few more like you, he may go out of business. Then you can pay a hundred quid for your next purchase.
  • Totally agree with macfly. Sellers are businesses keeping staff in jobs and the economy moving. Buyers are aware of P&P costs before they enter into the sale. If the item arrived in good time and is in good order, I'd give a positive and be happy that I got the item £20 cheaper than anywhere else.

I'm not a seller who does this, I only sell personally and charge as cheaply as I can. But I think we have to support people who are keeping others in jobs at the moment.

This has been covered many times. The price was mentioned when you made the purchase you decided to go ahead because you thought the total price was still good value for money. Yes its fee avoidance etc but definate does not warrant a negative.
