i think what hank was trying to say but not very elequently (sp) was that alot of people do use the 'slow metabolism' 'PCOS' and 'Underactive thyroid' as an excuse when probably the truth is that they are consuming far to many calories than they are burning off. I am not saying that people don't suffer from it but i do believe that a large majority that claim to have once of the above are just using it as an emotional crutch rather than getting of their !!!!!! and doing something about their weight.

    Will

well in my case it is definatly not an excuse. i go to the gym five times a week for an hour and a half at a time. i have a personal trainer appt once a month to review my program which is aimed at losing my weight. i have tried the doctor for advice and been told that i'm now too thin for help which is a !!!!!! since after losing three stone through pure hard work i've stuck at the weight i am. both my doctor and my personal trainer have blamed my thyroid for this. as i said before i have never used my thyroid as an excuse for my weight, merely an excuse to push myself over my endurance limits to beat it.

Wow that sounds fantastic, can you give this to yourself deliberately? Otherwise how much does it cost to get it done?

...I think we're related, that is so me, I call it being laid back but I suspect others think different....I'm currently sat here with bits of tin foil sticking out of my hair................ I'm trying to make right the mess the hairdresser made of my hair last week. After trying to convince myself that my highlights were blond rather than the nicotine yellow that has been staring me in the face I have admitted defeat and yes my hair is definately a mixture of brown and the worst shade of orangey yellow that you can imagine....Weight wise, well I've done nowt as yet....

I think we are related!!..............sadly...I think being laid back loses out to being a lazy !!!!!! (me!:D )...

I too am sat here thinking what the effing hell has the hairdresser done to me..........sadly what I asked her to???...........seemed a good idea at the time:p the next time I think a fringe is a good idea.............someone give me a good kicking!!!..hair has looked absolutely fine the past 2 days......back to work today....kinky:o ...(and not in a good way!).....lanky.......drab.....it will look better tomorrow......I may be an hour ..or so:p late.........but I don't care:p

Re the op: what a lovely personality and she shines even on a bad day

hank re the glands and being fat. I cycle ride and in fact last week I rode a round trip of 25 hilly miles just to change the pin number on my bank card. I enjoyed it because my DH came with me. I am far too heavy for my small height and believe me I do not over eat. For tea I am having green bean salad with two slices of hallumi cheese followed by fresh pineapple and this is typical. I am round and so be it. I accept myself and my DH loves me to bits (married 36 years)

Now reply to that Hank and I think you owe an apology as you certainly haven`t worn the t shirt and you don`t know what you are talking about

hank re the glands and being fat.......

Whilst I myself cannot use the 'excuse' of overactive thyroid/glands...etc...I am a lazy madam and I know it......I have known people over the years that this has REALLY affected...

One women I knew (when I was ickle....and she was only a teenager....) was by my standards at the time huge............REALLY big.........i saw her a couple of years later...........I COMPLETELY DIDN'T RECOGNISE HER....SHE WAS SOO SMALL?? and it was not down to starving herself....

Faltered a bit over the years....but I really don't think it was to do with over eating at all.....

The thyroid is a gland located below the voice box, and to either side of the windpipe. Any damage to it will obviously lead to a reduction in its effectiveness. You can reduce it's effectiveness by the use of a DIY power drill. The best drill bit to use is of course a wood bit as they have wide flutes to avoid fouling. Accuracy is important, and if you have problems using a mirror, then you may wish to ask a friend to help - which would be free and hence very DFW.

Given your obvious charm and friendliness, I would imagine people would be lining up to help you.
