I'm fat, my daughter has nits and I've ran out of money.

There was an article on the tv, recently, stating that nits are becoming more resistant, and eventually immune, to the modern treatments available.
Anyone remember DDT - may have been dangerous, but it sure killed mosquitos.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

that post was ace. You really need to look at writing in newspapers ( pref paid) and before you know it you will be a celeb author- just remember your mates here on MSE.

I know from personal experiance that good old normal conditioner is by far the best solution! The nits & their eggs etc have no chance as it makes the hair sooo slippery.. I def recommend doing the conditioner!!0

Oh and WHEN you do decide to start a writing career there is a brilliant freebie website to get you started https://www.newbie-writer.com but it is offline for a couple of days changing servers. It has a free ebook to download full of great little tips. enjoy0 -
Hey, I want to add to my thanks for your excellant support, I'll keep it short and sweet tonight as I've been possessed by the spirit of Oldstyle and gone all batch cooking mad.

Why not take some to Minnie Spender's party? I've got some (only slightly) out of date guiness, could be just the thing for your pork stew.
Talking of which, what happened to Beer Shampoo - I believe that was good for nits - didn't kill them, but got them so drunk they fell out of your hair.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. hang on in there, things will get better now you're taking steps to sort things out.
bad days are to be expected, but they pass.
tea tree is very good for nits, doesn't contain all the nasty chemicals in the usual stuff from the chemists and its likely to be cheaper too.
sticking my tuppence worth in (and speaking as someone with reducing clutter, reducing debts and reducing negative body image), talking things over with someone (good friend, counsellor, etc) can be really helpful in reducing the desire to spend/eat/criticise oneself.
wishing you wellBoyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!0 -
Hey Triker,
You really should start to see if you can make some money from writing. You're hilarious! Really! There must be somewhere out there that would appreciate an occasional column from such a wonderful sounding person.
I don't have time to read all the posts on this thread (my boss seems to think I should WORK for him occasionally) but I'd agree with the tea-tree treatment for nits. Shampoo AND conditioner. The blighters apparently can't stand the smell of it. But you'll get used to it soon enough. Get the cheap supermarket version though. No need for expensive brand names.
As regards everything else: set a small target to begin with, whether it's with your finances or your diet. When you hit that target (and you will) you'll feel so good that you'll want to set another one. You wont hit them all, no-one does, but keep plugging away. Never give up.
You're real, babe. We love you and we'll help you.0 -
If we're going to keep telling Triker how well she writes and that she should do a column, how about we try and find such a column for her. Someone here must work in the press, be it a national paper or a local rag! Or even a news website or something. Anyone?SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0

Awww whaddya like? I'm sat here blushing like mad. You have certainly built up my self esteem.
I have 'ahem' started to get something done about the state everything got in.
I am Nit Slayer, hear me roar...............well ok moan a bit then...........grrrrrr.....aaharrr, I give up, too Alan Partridge.
Anyway, little one went to school and passed the scrutiny of the nit inspection by the school scary person aka receptionist. Or she that fixes you with a gaze that says I know that you and your iron are not the greatest of friends.
At least I didn't get the letter home.
Wielding my trusty weapon of mass destruction (shouts - 'ere George I've found one for ya) the Nitty Gritty comb, yey. I may actually write a love poem for the comb, gush gush you have truly changed my life.
Money, smiles slightly wearily but with wisdom in the eyes (Yoda style), well money, money, money, I have a bit but not enough and I feel frozen in limbo because I have not yet sat down to sort out anything. However what I have done is cook amazing stews and soups and other batch cooked frozen delights for my family. However (again) there are only 4 of us and the cat and I got a little ......erm.............carried away and thought I was the mother of a family of 16 strapping sons and cooked accordingly. You can never have enough beef stew I reckon.
Weight loss- Weeeeelllllll, I'm smiling at you all, one with my mouth, one from the overhang that insists on peeking out over my jeans! It's fine really it is, as I am taking steps, not literally you understand, are you all mad,
I am serene, smiles at..........nods towards lateral thigh trainer.... my friend, well, when I say friend, I kind of mean aquaintance........... the passing kind ... if truth be told. Anyway we've had a break to see if we can manage without each other and we've decided to give it another go. On my terms naturally, it's only fair that there will be give and take. I'll give sweat and probably the best years of my life and LTT will just be there eyeing up my bulk and bracing itself for those first creaky steps towards the new me.
Actually I think most of it is excess water and not fat, I'm probably misaligned with the moon or something and when all my planets line up there'll be a huge whhhhooooooooosssssshhhhhhh and I'll be stood in a puddle looking slimmer. Mebbe.:rotfl:
Right I'm off for now but cheers as always for your uplifting and heartening posts, Triker.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
