Thanks. Still feel cringey the way the bloke behaved when we said we decided against it.

Im just a bit concerned that all 10 year old vans are going to have breaks that dont seem to work aswell as a newer car/van. Whether we are expecting something in much better condition for the money/age?

I doubt that vans that age will have abs brakes.
Have you thought about going onto the van section of Autotrader putting in the maximum you want to spend and see what kind of vans are available, then you can find out the names of them and search other sites such as ebay, preloved and gumtree.

Any 10 year old van should have brakes as good as any modern car.
    My 1997 Ducato certainly has.
Most small vans are based on a car like the escort or similar, and they're good.
It was just a bad van you looked at.

Thank you, we drove home feeling pretty awful. The chap seemed really shirty we had wasted his time (but we wasted ours too!). And I just wondered if £1/2k is just a silly amount to be thinking of looking for a decent van. They either seem rust buckets or with such high mileages.

    Thanks for your help though.

There's no shortage on ebay, mileage is high though, but vans are usually well looked after, if they break down it loss of earnings.
These were just examples of the first page that came up.

Our 97 diesel 106 car is up to 130,000 miles, my ducato camper is on on 85,000,
thinking about the escort van , probably 139K sounds right for that age.

I read that in your post tbh, 139k still sounds right though.

Do you mean 39k sounds dubious? It does say FSH.

Just found a vauxhall 2002 with 86000 for £1600 not too far away. The search continues .................

    Much appreciate everyones input.
