I have a big very expensive bottle of a special oil with lots of Omega3s and linseed and goodness knows what in it that I brought from Boots - Its supposed to be fab on Salads and like the healthiest dressing you can have but it smells and tastes like paraffin
Going to throw it away now with no guilt at all0 -

..that you never use?
Maybe we could exchnage tips on how to make use of them.
In my case, I have Fish Sauce which I have never even opened, pumpkin seed oil and balsamic vinegar."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

A tiny drop of fish sauce in a stir fry with some soy sauce gives it a very "authentic" flavour - more like a restaurant/take away flavour rather than a home cooked one, if that makes sense.
Mr Piglet learned this when training to be a chef, and I was very dubious...but its true!

P.S. By authentic, I don't mean it tastes at all fishy, because it doesn't!
Just yummy!!!

P.S. Pumpkin seed oil I have no idea about,:o and I don't care too much for balsamic vinegar, apart from in a salad dressing (although I prefer other salad dressings, to be honest!:rolleyes:), so I'll leave those to others...0 -

OMG - Mother gave me some 'home-made' mincemeat about 4 years ago. It must have survived c. 5 housemoves since then - am thinking this MUST be guilt, cos i hate mincemeat (nothing against dried fruit - just the wormy white bits of[STRIKE] lard[/STRIKE] suet (yuck) squirming inside the jar:eek: :eek: .
When I say 'squirming' - they aren't actually moving.........................only in my imagination!!!!!:rotfl:"...I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."

I have 6 tins of chestnut puree (bought for 5p each) that I have no idea what to do with. Also a bottle of rice vinegar. Anyone got any ideas?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

Hi frugalista,
I use rice vinegar in oriental cooking. It's good in sweet and sour recipes, sweet chilli chicken, stir fries and hot and sour soup.
Chestnut puree is something I've never used, but this thread should help:
Help me use up this tin of sweet chestnut puree
