Does anyone actually believe this clap trap? its a marketing ploy nothing more
You may get some things cheaper but others costs more.0 -
Geordie Joe, I have no idea how they're managing it if Morrisons don't publish prices anywhere... strange.
I can't use the link you posted because I don't have an asda receipt, but I would like to know if it gives you the prices for the items in the other supermarkets, or just tells you what the total would have been.0 -

It gives you prices for each item, except ones it deems "not comparable".Student Moneysaver going to Paris next year! Trying to save!

I'm surprised how negative people are being, I like the concept. ASDA feel they can do this because they normally work out cheaper on average (which I think they do) and it means we can find out if it is really true.
For those who say they shop at other stores for the loyalty points I'm afraid you are being taken in by marketing. It's pointless earning points worth pence if you can save pounds on your shopping elsewhere.
And as for this:Just means members of sites like this one will get together to produce a list of items that make it worthwhile going to Asda to take advantage of this.0 -
I bought a hoop at Asda that I could have bought more cheaply at Tesco.
They wouldn't do the refund though as I was unable to jump through it.0 -
Regardless of this new guarantee, I won't ever do my main shop at Asda because they don't have a loyalty scheme whereas Tesco and Sainsburys do. I've done very well with clubcard points over the years.
I do shop at Asda now and again though, only small shops so i'll try this out next time.
I find that Tesco is more expensive than ASDA for almost everything I buy, and have always assumed Tesco charge more because they offer a loyalty scheme. It's nice having a clubcard and getting a £10 voucher in the post now and again, but if I've had to pay £10 extra to get it, it's really not worthwhile.
That's my experience anyway, obviously yours might differ.I'm surprised how negative people are being, I like the concept. ASDA feel they can do this because they normally work out cheaper on average (which I think they do) and it means we can find out if it is really true.

I agree0 -
Yes but Clubcard points are worth 16p in the pound for deals, are Tesco 16% higher on average?0
-
They're worth 8p/pound but yeah they're still not 8% higher although you have to spend them on certain deals/offers with questionable value.
How many deals actually give 4 x their cost.
And how many of those could be sourced cheaper elsewhere anyway.0 -

Why? That's completely pointless.
It's not pointless.
Suppose you have a shopping list. Half the items on it will be cheaper in Tesco and the other half cheaper in ASDA. When comparing baskets one will cancel out the other, so the difference in price for the total basket will be small.
But, if you have the list mentioned above, you can pick out the items that are cheaper in tesco and pay for those separately, then pay for the ones that are cheaper at ASDA. You will then have one receipt where everything on it is cheaper at Tesco, so you will get more money back because there are no items that are cheaper at ASDA cancelling out the price difference.0
