Brown sticks his foot in his mouth

What does everyone think is more important?
The fact that the government is spending £160 BILLION POUNDS MORE than they take in taxes and income, EVERY YEAR.
Or that Brown thinks a pensioner is a Bigot.0 -

Well when you consider the Tory's Austerity Budget went down like a lead balloon a few months back, I suspect people aren't too fussed by the deficit as they know the UK is knackered and the taxpayer will have to fork out loads of cash to fix whoever wins.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

I think both are important. Just shows what our unelected pm thinks of the 'little people' and how out of touch from public sentiment he is. I think his attitude sums up the whole of the nu-Labour era of disrespect for the common voter and "We know best, the plebs must do as we say, not as we do" arrogance of nu-Labour (and politicians in general).0 -
I'm sure all three parties would love for the deficit issues to be sidelined by this issue, Brown certainly has tried to avoid saying the "cut" and "tax rise" words so far....however tonight's final debate is all about the economy and so lets see how the three of them perform.Only one election Chucky, is that because of your age or becuase of a deliberate decision not to vote?0

Degenerate wrote: »She went on general moan about all the ills she perceives in health, education, benefits, the provision of local services, etc, then towards the end threw in Eastern Europeans migrants as a cause "but you can't say anything" (you just did, love.)
She's quite obviously ignorant of the economic case in favour of allowing migrant workers, the fact that they have actually contributed to the UK economy, increasing the tax take and allowing more cash for the provision of services (failures in the local distribution of resources notwithstanding). Or the fact that it was an obligation arising from EU membership that we could not avoid after 2011 anyway, other than by withdrawing from the EU with serious economic fallout.
Basically her level of understanding of the issues that concern her is inadequate, so she falls back on blaming the foreigners. Yes, this is bigotry, of the casual variety that is all too common in some parts of this country.
Rubbish.
This country has 2 million plus unemployed (many young). What is the sense in paying them fortunes in benefits and then importing (mainly unskilled) people from abroad to fill the jobs? I must be a bigot for posing the question but am happy to be put straight if someone can give a logical answer rather than just resorting to name calling.0 -
but that is my point - this side issue is a bit irrelevant compared to the other election issues that we have.
just couldn't be bothered really, one vote doesn't add value. i live in an extremely conservative seat - 1997 was the last election i voted.
I think the voters are clinging onto this Duffy thing becuase I suspect 'we' are in denial about the almighty mess we're in and so a bit of light relief is more interesting. A bit like an alcoholic, we know we've got a problem but would rather not think about it too much.
I think it is still valid though becuase this election is very much about personalities (or the lack of), rather than bottom line pledges. The 3 parties are more or less pledging the same stuff so it's coming down to who we like best and Brown is nt exactly lighting up the charts on this one.
Last voted in 1997......Hmmm, it was YOU that got Blair into power then!:D;)Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
you know all of these Labour supporters and you know that they all have been life long supporters.
you're making all of this up aren't you or are you trying to score your little forum points here?
for the record i've voted in one election in my whole life.
I have no idea what you are trying to say.
I know your trying to insinuate something. Haven't a clue what it is, and frankly, don't care!0 -
