Hi there - Brand new to the site today.
After reading numerous threads regarding claiming back PPI, i wanted to know if anyone thinks this would be possible for me.
I originally took out a loan with beneficial Finance in 2003 and was told that without the PPI my loan application would be unsucessful, so i took it.
Then paid the loan off over the speciifed time period and deceided (stupidly:eek:) to take another loan in 2005 which again i was told you need to take PPI in order that your application is accepted.
Now does that mean i was mis-sold the policy and am i entitled to claim?
Now i also bought a sofa from DFS in 2005 and only last night (whilst looking for the beneficial Finance docs) i realised i had paid PPI on this - i have the original paperwork and the box has been ticked but i am positive that i did not Tick the box as the whole form was completed by the sales assistant....can i claim this back.
Thanks to anyone that can advise me:beer:

Hi and welcome
It seems you have a case here.
If mis sold by them both then write to them both to reclaim.
You write to the ones who actually arranged and set up the finance, with the reasons you have and they have 8 weeks in full to respond.
You do not have to worry about writing down the amounts, they should supply the breakdown to you on success, or you can request they send them to you.
Follow Martin's guidelines of reclaiming on the link below, I believe there is a questionnaire to complete as well, the FOS set these up, so always keep a copy, you send one to the bank with an enclosing letter of reclaim and keep a copy in case you have to go complaining to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), for instance if your not happy with the outcome of the final decision.

When you write to them as well, there is a template on the link below, but personally I think better success comes from a letter in your own words, although a template is helpful to make sure nothing is missed.
Check this one out here below to help you through:

And send your letter alongside with the questionnaire.
Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, good luck, ask for help anytime and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Di
Wow that was quick!
Just a quick one - Do i write to the actual branch or that head office of both companies?
Also it seems as though both Beneficial Finance and DFS were through HFC Bank does this make any difference that it was all from the same people?0 -

What i have found with HFC/Beneficial is that you do not need to write to them with your complaint you can actually just call them with your reference numbers and advise them that you would like to make a cliam for mis-selling.
I have already had 1 succesfull claim with HFC for mis-selling which was paid out in Dec 2009.
Because of the sucess with the first claim i decided to look through old bank statements and found 3 further accounts i had with HFC. I called them on 22 April 2010 and quoted the 3 reference numbers and told them i wanted to make a claim for mis-selling of PPI which he registerd there and then whilst i was on the phone. I received a letter back from them on the 29th April stating they were looking into my complaint and not only that they had also added 2 further reference numbers to my complaint going back to 2001 which they are also investigating even though i hadnt mentioned them so all credit to them.
Basically save time and just give them a call, they do the rest.

The same has just happened to me l called with regards a PPI miss selling complaint l had sent and rang to enquire on progress. I was told by a lady that infact l had 2 more accounts back to 2001 of which l forgot as l had claimed for a loan which l settled for £10,500 in 2003, but ironically l had taken the account number of a loan which l had paid up before taking large secured loan thinking it was the large loan but the lady had put me right given me all the correct account numbers and amounts. She then advised no need to write in as they would now investigae PPI misselling on all 3 cases.
Wait to hear fingers crossed.Seemed to accomodating and easy.0 -

Does seem quite easy but it was the same as my last succesfull claim, they did'nt even ask me for the reasons i felt it had been mis-sold just paid out anyway.
Out of curiosity you say you rang them to chase up a complaint you had already made. How long have you been waiting for there response?0 -
Thanks for your help everyone.
I have infact sent my letter regarding Beneficial Finance but havent got round to DFS yet.
Do you have the number you called or should i just ring the head office?
I also realised i bought a stereo on finance about 10 years ago using HFC would it be too late to claim on that?0 -

Hi
If you have any problems locating the telephone number, contact the FOS who should be able to help, either by chasing them up for you if over the 8 weeks or they should at least have the telephone number details for you.

Many have still be successful with reclaiming as from the 90's and so, so its worth a shot, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
