I requested a free copy of Easy Cook from the recent BBc offer. it hasn't come yet but I'm glad I didn't pay for it as no-one seems keen. I had a free copy of Olive too but it was too pretencious for my tastes. I like the Sainsburys' magazine as it's mostly food with a few other features. It also has vouchers/offers/freebies. The last one cost me £1.40 but I had £1.65 worth of vouchers out of it as well as a 2 for 1 in Cafe Rouge voucher (which will save me about £10 when I use it).0

Thought I would get Olive cooking magazine, never bought it before.
It has a free little chocolate book in the front (didn't buy it for that, its tiny) BUT when I ripped open the plastic its got a great little (bigger than the chocolate book though) minced beef recipe book included. I love mince anyway, but there are some REALLY nice/new/unusual mince ideas, it was a great bonus:j
If you subscribe, you get it a bit cheaper & a free Gordon Ramsey - pub food book - the new one.
   Shall I subscribe0 -

DD gets decent cookery lessons at her current school, they actually learnt to make several different kinds of bread from scratch. Her last school had lessons on making pizza decoration... worse than useless! DS gets nada, and he's the one who's actually interested.
Good Food I always reckon is good basic. Olive is for if you want to impress the Jones'.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I get Good Food(also from Clubcard subscription!) and am really enjoying it.My neighbour passes Olive on to me sometimes, that includes more things like like articles on restaurant reviews, eating out here and sometimes abroad.Has some nice recipes in ,though I think I prefer Good Food on the whole.
Can I be cheeky, are Good Food doing the subscribe & get a free Gordon Ramsey British Pub Food book?

I think I would prefer Good Food to Olive.0 -
Does anyone have old copies of the Home and Freezer Digest magazines printed in the early 70's. In particular May 1977. I have lost favourite recipe for Apricot shortcake0

I haven't got any magazines but have the following old H & F Digest books - Christmas from the Freezer, Baking for the Freezer and 100 Best Apple Recipes. Unfortunately none of these books have a recipe for Apricot Shortcake although there are some other Apricot recipes.0

Oh I remember them so well. I got married in 1979 and I found these a great help, as we didnt know what would freeze or not freeze then. I wish they were sill going, my mother wasnt the best of cooks bless her so I had to teach myself a lot through books and magazines.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”
