I would think that the gym membership stops when you cancel the policy as the agreement is between Pru and the gym. Pru make payments to the gym on your behalf, you just use their facilities!

Is your gym membership active yet? I took up this offer in August and activated my membership last week over the phone. Still waiting for details to come through the post.

For those that have activated their gym membership and use Pru Member Zone online service, does Holmes Place show up in the list of Vitality Benefits?

I just activated the membership the other day, but have had the health insurance for almost 2 months. If I've missed out on 2 month's membership I've only got myself to blame!

I will just be cancelling my direct debit after 6 monthly installments have come out of my account using internet banking! Saves phoning them.

I like this idea. Can it really work though or would they come after me with debt collectors?

How do you access the Intermediary Zone?

You need to be an intermediary - that is, someone who sells or advises on Pru Health - like an insurance broker. I'm an intermediary which is how I access it. I have a choice of two promotions when I quote - the Boots voucher or 6 months gym access. However, before I get any requests, private medical cover is not my specific area of business and the amount of commission I get amounts to less than one month's premium - so nowhere near the £115 that Quidco are offering. I suspect the affiliate that Quidco deal with aren't technically meant to obtain the gym membership even though people have (myself included - yes, even I went through Quidco rather than my own agency!).
  • Got in on last day, £33 a month, and hopefully the motivation I need to get me moving... The sauna, steam room, pilates and yoga classes all included in the membership gave me the incentive to join, and the club looks lovely and friendly.

Unfortunately, it is going to take until the 13th to activate the membership, so nearly 2 weeks from making the phone call to being able to start benefiting, which is a bit of a letdown... But still a great result, and not being tied in for a year if I don't like it is great.

The gyms usually let you use their facilities straight just take your Pru card along and all should be ok!!

I think you need to give a months notice (as in the T&C). If you don't inform them and just cancel the d/d, you haven't given any notice and I imagine they could legally chase you for the cash.

I'd send a letter recorded post and then cancel the d/d, so you've got proof they had a months notice.

From what I read in the Terms and Conditions, if you don't pay them they cancel your policy. No mention of paying the remainder.

    Hi guys,
No need to panic and sign up before 31-10-06. I have called Pru up and they said the gym offer is extended to the end of November. So you can start the insurance policy next month!

Hi - would you mind confirming this - also do you need to phone Pru to make sure you get the gym offer instead of the Boots voucher???

Many thanks and apologies if this already covered.
