I've heard that Holmes Place are being taken over by virgin Active, does anyone know how this will effect the free 6 month membership?

I've just signed up and now I'm worried!

I am not sure this has been approved by regulators yet. Even if it does go through I am sure Pruhealth will try their best to keep the offer running or they will lose a lot of their customers!

Considering we have a waiver of 30 days at which point we can cancel (cooling off period) you'll know pretty quickly.

Yep, just signed up myself having just started a grueling self fitness regime! (got a 2nd hand bike virtually pristine for £150 and done my first 16 mile pub-ride...)

  • Dear al,
well i have used my gym today at cannons, via quidco with 22 quids premium, all is well.Just thinking about the vitality points scheme mentioned by pruhealth,is it not possible to continue the policy.pay 25quids for gym and reduce the premiuim by 100% for next year?
Or is it wise to ancel after 6months(stop the working out??or payup 48 quids membership fee)then wait for another round of offer?

I have been trying to work this one out. Would be worth it for me as my local authority gym is £36 pm direct debit - so if I was disciplined enough to earn enough points to get platinum status (and of course not do anything silly like get ill ) it would work out more economical to have the pru health/holmes place membership. I also wouldnt have to contend with the mold in the showers/changing room/kids swimming pool/sauna at my local authority one (apart from the mold it is quite good!). HOwever it all depends on how disciplined and organised you are........

How many points do you need in order to get the various discounts? I can't find this on the website.

So you can't work out what discount you are likely to earn, before you decide whether to join?

  • Status levels are as follows.

    Bronze - 0 points - 25% No claims discount
    Silver - 1000 points - 50%
    No claims discount
    Gold - 1500 points - 75% No claims discount
    Platinum - 2000 points - 100% No claims discount

I think its a good idea earning vitality points. Some are really easy such as reading articles or filling in a review form on the website. I recently signed up to Fitbug for £15 which gives me 10 points if i achieve 12,500 steps in a day. A pedometer is included. For many this is a daily routine! Well worth looking into Vitality points!
