  • Joined Cannons gym last night re this offer and the process for this is different to those wanting to join Holmes Place:

    1. I called Pru and was told they couldn't give me a membership number. Only Cannons can issue these.
    2. Made appointment at my local Cannons and filled in one piece of paper with all my details.
    3. Girl explained that it was £25 per month (once your 6 free mths has ended) but you paid this directly to Pruhealth not Cannons
    4. Had to call Pru while I was at Cannons, give them my membership number and they activated it.
    5. Pru said that my free offer expires 05 March 07. I had to call them before that point and if I continued with the gym I would be charged £25 per month but no activation fee. If I chose not to continue with Cannons I WOULD be charged the activation fee of £25

Everyone was very helpful and Cannons clearly knew all about the Pru offer and how to process it.

Now all I have to do is go!!
  • so the free 6 months start from the day you actually sign up with the gym?

thats great because the latest you can sign up is 31/10/06
  • Re: Cancellation on page 13 it says ...
    d) If the Policyholder cancels, PruHealth may not
reimburse the premium paid or waive the
    premium due.

Is there any danger that the premium due, which may not be waived, is the remainder of the premiums for the 12 month contract?

yes thats right. However, the reason ppl are signing up asap is if you have only joined to get the 6 months free offer, then intend to cancel with pruhealth after that, you would be paying for 8 months of pruhealth premiums if you didn't start the gym till 31/10 ( assuming you joined in aug), to get only 6 months of free gym membership. If you want the pruhealth cover anyway for the forseeable future and the gym is just a nice extra then u could join anytime up to 31/10 and it wouldn't affect u

Hope u understand me - not v good at explaining things!!

Just phoned them to see what was what. They confirmed that the offer was extended, but he needed to requote me with the gym offer rather than use the quote I got on the site. So he confirmed my details and requoted me.

He has given me a new ref number to retrieve the quote (same price) and this is what I will use when I go through quidco this evening (cannot get on quidco at work).

Just thought that might help anyone else who couldn't see the extended offer on the site as I certainly can't, looks like you may have to phone first to get the offer added to your quote.

Quidco state that any phone contact usually voids payout does anyone think this will be the case with this approach? as it is technically before the transaction takes place?

is there anyone around from when this was first brought out? I think it was a while ago so perhaps some have gone thru the 6 month cycle of starting and stopping?

    any idea?

I didn't realise this. But even if I had realised, I would still have had to do it this way to get the offer as it wasn't showing on the website any more and the guy had to add it for me or apparently I wouldn't have got it - is it still showing for any of you? Ultimately I did it for the offer rather than the cashback, so will have to see what happens...

Seems some other people on here had phone contact before the transaction too...would be interested to hear what happened for them.

Perhaps they mean the fact that they invoice you for the month in advance, and you have 30 days to pay, therefore that invoiced month would be the money due, rather than the whole 12 months.

But I wanted to check people's opinions / experiences as it would be a nasty shock for the whole year's premium to be declared due!
  • If you also get vitality points, you get other nice offers too! Make it to platinum level and you get 100% reduction on next years premium (although somehow you pay about £4 or something for inflation?!) This can mean you're paying approximately £30 each month for the whole of next year for gym membership.
  • Hello all

I signed up to this thro RPoints last week; Pru Health & my club v. helpful & whole process v. straightforward. I pay £31 per month - normal membership £57. RPoints says my £115 is being "tracked" & expects to pay out this month. So if I do get the cashback my membership will cost me £17 a month.

Cycled to the gym to sign up; did a class & swim today & got to goal at Weight Watchers!! :D:D So I am exhausted but happy thanks to you guys - Thanks! :money:
