Afternoon all :) It is such a warm day today! I am keeping a special eye on the plants to make sure they are ok. I really must get some new compost- the new one I got is almost gone- AGAIN!

Yes, missing been busy . Glad of cool breeze 'cos sun is scorching hot. Have had to water strawberries herbs and flowers in new raised beds cos they were made with weed fabric..lazy quick fix. Will double dig them in Autumn. Tattie shaws are huge ..in fact everything is looking good. More carrots appeared just as I was thinking I need to replant!

In South Lanarkshire tomorrow Saturday 5th June the garden at Biggar Park is open from 12 noon.
Penicuik Silver Band at 1.30pm, Gym display, balloon race, hog roast, plants for sale and stalls.Lovely garden, there is an entrance fee to raise funds for Rotary projects. It's £4 adult, child £2 , family £10 includes parking.

    Biggar Park, Biggar ML12 6JS.

As you come towards Biggar on A702 beyond Symington junction you pass a cottage with conservatory on left, then you'll see lodge of Biggar Park which is just beyond the entrance gate. It is signposted. It's not a council park , it's residence of former owner of Dobies and Butterfly farm. Mrs Barnes is a very knowledgeable, talented friendly gardener.

  • Thanks for all your advice on my tomatoes. They've been out gradually more and more over the last few days and tonight is so warm they're out on their own - gulp - my wee babies! Something or someone (blaming the three year old) has snapped off the top of one of my not very big tomato plants so not sure if it will get any taller or not now ? Hopefully this weather is going to hold for a bit, although the endless watering is beginning to wear a bit thin. Happy gardening everyone!

I'm further North past Inverness and I've had a growbag with tomatoes inside a plastic green house and a pot with tomatoes outside just left to their own devices. The ones outside are growing twice as fast as the ones inside so I wouldn't worry too much about yours Dfs. :)

Been busy in the garden here too.

Everything seems to be growing ok..the potatoes are romping away - they look as if they will be ready earlier than they should be..is that possible?

Having a bit of a problem with my peas and sweet peas through..they don't seem to want to cling to anything and I don't know what to do?

Today I have to sand down and paint some old garden furniture (save me buying new!).

Cooking mama, your strawberries will come from the middle of the flowers (have you them covered up by netting? if so you may need to pollinate them by just gently tickling them with a small paintbrush)..the petals will drop off and you will see the green centre growing into a strawberry!

    Hi everyone. :)

I'm feeling much better now, thanks Grebe. Glad to hear your neighbour was so happy with all your hard work. :)

Garden has been flourishing. Husband was put on watering duty with strict instructions! :rotfl:

Hmm, might have to see if we can get to Drumpellier tomorrow... Now, how can I persuade my husband? (Poor guy is not really into gardening and is feels somewhat tormented by my love of it! ;))

Pumpkins need repotted and possibly the broad beans, so might have a go at that today. My potatoes look like they need earthed up (first time!) so that's also on the to do list.

My geranium, fuschia and lobelia plugs are doing really well and are almost ready for planting out.

Hope you're all enjoying the weather!
