You are probably not that far from me Mardatha
We had snow for blimmin ages too, but somehow the lavender did survive buried under it for weeks, and some roses and scented pinks.M.A.C.A.W member number 39

Hi All
I fell a bit behind with the gardening as I haven't been feeling too well the last few days..... I've been a bit fluey.... My beloved has told me I should do so much but, funnily enough, he hasn't offered to do it for me... so I had better crack on... I'm going to stagger down to the greenhouse and catch up with my potting-on... my geraniums need put into bigger pots, my lobelia will die if I don't !!!!! them out... I've done some of my hanging baskets ... they are in the cold frame.... I'm going to hang a basket of tomatoes in my kitchen and see how I get on with it....my cucumbers haven't grown, so I'll have to plant a couple more seeds... I noticed that one of my tomato plants has a truss.... so that was a nice surprise.... so I had better get off and go and do some work.... I have also done most of my borders.... it is continous work... and I am getting some monoblocking done -- they start next weekend... so I am hoping they don't destroy too many plants in the process......
I am thinking of taking some of my hardened off plants out of the cold frame and putting them under some large bushes so that they will still be protected from any extremes in weather.... I think that is it....

Hello peeps, hello to all the new faces.
I have been doing a late spring clean on the house this week and have only managed to rush out and cover the garden tenders with fleece every night.
My indoor planting is coming on a treat, the Romano pepper plants are growing fast and I have managed to get the trailing Lobellia to germinate at last.
Outdoors the potato growing is going well.
I cannot wait for the weather to warm up a little, I don't even care if it rains just as long as there is no frost or bitter winds to contend with.
I soooooooo envy you LilacPixie having your own allotment plot.
Hope you are feeling better officeguru."To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill" Sun Tzu0 -
Planted out some Busy Lizzies that would have died if they hadn't been planted out.Same with some Sweet Williams. Coriander plant seems to be doing rather well outside even though the advise I got was to wait till the weather warmed up. Homebase have a 15% off sale today so I may have a bimble up there to see if I can pick up a bargain. Then God looked over all he had made, and said, "I can see idiots from my house".

I'd been wanting to plant a rose arch in the back garden, thought it would look very pretty and in fact I'd asked for one for my birthday (big birthday coming up family going together to get biggish pressie)..but after doing some research I found that middling price wooden arches were no good really..you either need to buy something expensive (there's no way I could persuade them to spend £200 on me! LOL) or surprisingly go for a cheaper metal one (they had fab reviews bizarrely)..I was lucky enough to nip into a catalogue shop and found one for sale for £6 so I thought nothing ventured and all that ..I'll give it a go.
Well..you couldn't go swinging from it, but it's now sturdily planted up in the garden with a lovely Z!phirine Drouhin on either side (pink climbing rose, highly scented, thornless) ..so I'm very happy!M.A.C.A.W member number 39
