  • Hi, quick question for any T shoppers.

I've just come home from a big shop and noticed that at the bottom of my receipt I have a barcode printed with a product description of GEAR4 IPOD NANO JUMPSUIT.

I know that I haven’t paid for it but why is a barcode printed on the receipt? Is it a promotional thing? If I buy a nano jumpsuit do I get a discount/extra clubcard points with this barcode?

Just to clarify, its a barcode printed on the receipt between the total to pay and clubcard statement sections with a description of Ipod nano jumpsuit.

    Anyone any ideas? Thanks :)

Sometimes I think they print their guarantees like this - have you bought an Ipod Nano item further up the receipt?

I have been advised from a T manager, whom I know, that on the intra-net my name had been circulated as i was on a "meat and cd scam". My name had been gleaned from my clubcard or maybe my credit card details?

I would love to know which intranet you are referring to....yep there is a tesco intranet and yes information is shared between stores but I still maintain that individual R&R's names, addresses or descriptions are not passed around stores.....management can tell the difference between a scam and people who are exploiting policies. Possibly the manager whom you "know" was trying to put you off of R&R'ing in other stores??

From the scale of R&R'ing that occurs (made obvious by the fact that this thread is over a year old and several thousand posts long) how many names do you suppose is on this alleged list?

How would an assistant or manager remember them all?

There is one name that everyone knows and that is because he is the chap that bought most of this r&r policy to public knowledge around 6 years ago. He appeared on watchdog and several other tv programmes at the time and HE alone was the cause of a severe tightening up of the pricing procedures (constantine, i'm sure you know who i mean), anyone else's achievements - including Mr "Balls of Steel" Mcdonag - pale in comparison to the achievements of this one man.

Anyone care to share the scale of this Superhero's (or Arch Villain if you prefer!) R&R achievements?

What was the name of that bloke who bought loads of bananas then gave them away outside to anyone passing by?

I wouldn't say he alone spa, as well you know things were getting far too slack again and this thread has made a massive impact on priicing integrity within Tesco, it has also given birth to some underhand tactics at local level to disguise poor housekeeping such as the refusal to display pos material.

Even the greedy on here can comfort themselves with the fact they have inadvertantly helped someone avoid being misled, not necessarily saved them money, but at least not misled.

It was only him on the circuit around 5/6 years ago and he made an awful lot of money out of it. Wether or not this thread has made a massive impact is open to debate, i'm sure there are many stores out there that have not even heard of it.

There are of course the technically savvy that do know about it and where it will have made a difference, but it certainly wont be in the league of the changes that Mr Walkling bought about.
