McDonag, Can I ask a personal question ?

Do I assume you are of average height, average build, average appearance. Not 6 foot 4 with flaming Red hair, or any other distinguishing features ?
I cannot believe that your details are not circulated around ALL the Tescos where your Club card or Credit card are used.

Customers details do not get circulated around or between the Tesco stores EVER. There is no exception to this rule.

Information is shared regarding shoplifters etc but never customers that are doing nothing wrong.

Got this this afternoon but only had the nerve to take one twin although there were three on display and a single. SEL for twin removed and asked to give my name and address. This is the second time in a month I've been asked to give my name and address and I'm worried they'll ban me since there are no other Tescos in travelling distance.

I've been round 3 Tesco extra's trying to find these phones, but without any joy whatsover. Are they just bog standard home phones?
  • No, they are a very sexy completely flat piece of glass which lights up into a virtual touch phone. No buttons ...... never mind a dial!

I did check out the 'Magic' phones, but just my luck. Today I have the nerve, but Tesco has the prices right ! Typical. Noticed most of the electrical end of offer dates are the end of August and the beginning of Sept, so I will have to take a closer look then.

After feeling nearly saintly yesterday due to my restrained R&Rs, I must admit to feeling rather guilty today - I would value comments from MSErs

I was stood at cs desk ( where else do I spend my time !!) when a member of staff returned to cs desk obviously having checked out a customer complaint re OVERCHARGING. She was explaining to man that the SEL was
    a) a mistake, and had..
    b) been left there when it shouldn't have, and anyway it....
    c) doesn't really apply to this item.
    BUT
I will give you back XXX ( the difference) is that ok ?

It took a couple more attempts for her to finally get thru to him that she would give him back the amount he had been overcharged, so he would end up paying the figure on the bright yellow SEL she had brought with her to the desk. At the end of each explanation she added "Is that ok ?" as though she KNEW about R&R but was obviously banking on him not, and wanted him to agree to the watered down version of company policy she was offering.

What would you all have done ???

I was sorely tempted to do the good neighbourly thing and try and innocently say "But shouldn't he get a FULL refund, isn't that your policy ?", but since I was there myself wanting an R&R, I didn't want to get a higher profile than necessary
I got my R&R, funnily she never tried to fob me off with the difference but straight away said I would get a full refund - and I have never been served by her before, so it wasn't as though she knew my Experience, Knowledge or REPUTATION(:D ).

I still feel a bit guilty that I didn't give the man a quick hint. If I had overheard the start of his conversation with cs, I could have said something while she was off checking the shelf. As it was I kept schtum and selfishly thought about the R&R I was after.:o

Comments please, and also from Tesco staff about blatent applying and non applying of their policy. Same cs, 2 customers, 2 overcharges, one offered full R&R, other just the difference.

Most Tescos would have the price correct on their phones now unless they are slacking loads. However There is an offer on bluetooth headsets finshing tomorrow. So everyone pop down their local 'Extra' early monday morning and hope the POS is still up for these. There is a nice £60 unit there that can be picked up :D - providing the price increases...

Then come the 15th there are quite a few offers coming to an end including some digital cameras I think..so keep an eye open for them ;)

I have had a near exact situation you had and I did the same thing but with one slight difference, the lady trying to get r&r was after me and whilst the CS was off to check, I told her what I was doing and explained to her, her rights as a customer and tesco policy, pointing to the big blue poster.

She waited for me to complete my r&r and went straight in at the deep end. "well if he can get the product free then I think that I should be entitled" etc, etc.

One new r&r'er recuited against Mr T.

I like to just small talk with the customer behind me if I have to wait, "I was over charged how about you?" if the answer is "yes me too" I test the water if they don't know the score I just tell them to listen carefully whilst I am being served, I have lost count of how many I have introduced to r&r in this manner, who knows some of you may be on here as I often jot down the site address for them too.

  • I had a thought then about that film 'conspiracy theory', think its called that with Mel Gibson or whatever his name is. Can just imagine Tesco secretly tracking us all down and making us dissapear before we spread the word too far....
