I am 61, married, and my hours of work have just been slashed to 9 at 6.95 per hour.
A younger single colleague on the same hours, has been awarded Jobseekers, and I would like to know if I can claim contribution based Jobseekers ( as I have savings over £16000.) I started claiming my state pension of £53 from January, as at that time I had been ill and didn't expect to be able to return to work, and had only ssp to live on at that time.I suspect I may have shot myself in the foot by panicking about bills and deciding to draw my pension!
My husband is self employed on around £15000 per year

I *think* you might be able to claim pension credit instead?

  • Do dividends counts as income?

Yes. They come under the "other income" section.

  • That doesn't sound right regarding the council tax and £26k is certainly not a low income.
