Hi, Can't help you with where to go, biut I can possibly give you some tips on finding a week that is cheaper than the others.

Are you talking about the main school summer hols? This year for my kids these hols are the shortest I've ever known 5 1/2 weeks. Mine fisnish on fri 23rd July and go back Thurs 2 Sept. Term starts a day earlier but our area always does a teacher training day for the first day of the academic year. Have a look at your school/council website to see if your school has hols slightly outside this area, for example I know an MSE'r whose kids don't go back till w/c 6 Sept. If most schools are like mine then the week before is likely to be cheaper than the other school holiday weeks. Same for if your kids school is breaking up earlier.

England and Wales don't always align with hols either, so that's worth taking a look at, if most welsh kids are back then the price may be cheaper if you were to holiday there.

I sort of get what you're saying but I can't work it out lol. Mine break up on the 23rd of July and go back on the 1st of Sept. We have always previously taken the kids out of school and gone away in termtime, but this year my daughter is in Year 10 which means that we can't take her out of school because of her GCSE coursework. So this is the first year I've been faced with school holiday prices!!

Practically same as mine so don't think that idea will work. Was it you saw on another thread saying you like Butlins? If so, thery have an offer that ends today so they say, have you checked there?

Yes, it was me :-) Can't find anything less than £900 there tho.

Have just looked into Pontins. The only one that seems to have ok reviews in Pakefield, which is half board and comes out at £810 :-( We'd obviously be saving a fair amount on food but it still works out too much.

    Thanks anyway tho guys.

If your looking near Pakefield, have you looked at Hoseasons Hemsby.
    http://www.hoseasons.co.uk/holiday-parks/ProductDetailPage.aspx?ISDLNK=1&SCODE=HEMS&TIDPDUKPARK=parkInfo&ISPKMD=true

The park is a chalet style park and some of the chalets are basic.
Having said that, we used to go here yearly when are kids were small and my sister is now taking her children there.
As for Hemsby, we still visit here for a day trip out rather than go to Gt Yarmouth.

That's one with much more reasonable prices :-) Does anyone know what the accommodation is like though?

We went to Park Resorts Bideford ay last year. It is miles from the beach but we had a good time. The accommodation was like any other similar site but clean and well equipped. The entertainment was pretty good and the kids were kept busy. I'm sure they must have oter sites that are nearer to the beach. We have been to Warmwell in Weymouth before and that is great, there is a dry ski slope and all sorts of different things on site. It's not cheap but if you've got clubcard vouchers you might be able to stretch to it.

Feeling more positive now :-) Realised I've got £300 worth towards it from vouchers, so that will bring a £700 holiday down to £400 :-) Trying to decide between Kessingland and California Cliffs.
