  • Oooooooh hello Sunny, fancy seeing you here!! :rotfl:

Lots of luck with being a MFW :D I'm a MFWW (mortgage free wannabe wannabe :o) Had hoped to start paying off extra bits of the mortgage from January but still haven't managed it so can't call myself a MFW just yet!! :rotfl:

I follow a couple of diaries on here so will keep popping in to see how you're doing :)

    Hey Sunnyday,

I agree with ernie 3, people think that it's normal to struggle financially as most people do and they don't understand why others want to turn it around.

I used to shop... a lot and now that I have stopped doing this I've lost contact with a lot of my friends. They seem to think I'm a freak because I don't have 7 maxed out CCs like they do.

    Keep up the good work:T

    OO Hello Sweet :D

Thanks for the good luck wishes, i`ll need it!
I feel as if i`m stuck in limbo atm, waiting for all the papers to arrive etc.

Once the money is in my account i shall feel much better.

When the money comes off the mortgage i shall probably run around screaming :D

I`m prepared for the slowdown afterwards now though. I shall be doing some careful planning but i`m really looking forward to it.

Good luck with yours too, i`m sure that some small chunks will start vanishing from it pretty soon :j

    Hello - welcome - I'm a fellow newbie mfw too :D

Once you've paid your lump sum off, providing you keep your repayments the same (and still make occasional OPS too) it'll still come down quite quickly. If you set up a spreadsheet (I used financialbliss's) you can see the effect. It's quite addictive playing with all teh possibilities and seeing the theoretical outcomes........:D:D

  • It is exciting stuff!! :j Sunny, your excitement is infectious, I'm sat here with a smile on my face thinking I can do this as well!! Just need to get this week over with (might get some unwelcome news tomorrow _pale_) & then it may be possible to start planning some overpayments of my own, fingers crossed!! :D

The first lot of papers are signed sealed and on their way to be delivered :D

I posted them last night so that they would be in the first post today, shame about the weekend but they should arrive first thing on Monday morning, the postie has just been with the second set so hope to be posting those later today too :j

Just been reading the bumf that came with them and i must admit that my heart sank when i saw the word "tax" I never realised that surrendering the policies could have tax implications - but i`ve just done a bit of reading and even though the policies have just sneaked over the limit to pay out above what has been paid into them they still won`t take us anywhere near the higher tax limit so thats a huge sigh of relief pb_dance.gif

Greent - I`ve had a nosy at FB`s spreadsheets, i think i`ve found the one that you mean, i`m useless with things like that but i may just sit down and have a play around with it when i get the time. I`m messing about with rough ideas from whatsthecost but it would be nice to have something accurate that takes into account every penny :D Thankyou :D

I can`t seem to stop grinning atm.

Sweet - Hope that the bad news doesn`t materialise :( glad you`re reading this thread as it helps me enormously. Ta x

Off to browse for a while, i`m starving, can`t get into the kitchen and haven`t eaten since last night  The workman is doing his thing in there so i`m on a starvation diet atm :rotfl: serves me right for not being better prepared.

    Morning everyone :D

lovely and sunny outside, really lifts the spirits, the second set of papers are now signed and winging away to their destination.

Silly me forgot about the bank holiday - easy done when you work shifts through them. Wish we still got double time and a day off in lieu though :( basic time and no extra day but it pays the bills. This means that it will be a bit longer before we see the moolah but its nice knowing that its on the way.

One thought, i`m not sure if the policies are still on record as being attached to a mortgage or not - hopefully not but if i get a letter back asking about it i`ve no idea who to get in touch with

The old mortgage was with Abbey so fingers crossed all goes smoothly!

    Have a lovely Saturday peeps.
