It seem it's the local store who knows how many they are getting and when delivery is expected. Perhaps it's best to visit the store, chat to the staff, get their tel number and ask if they would hold/reserve one for you etc.

Our Comet store held it and we paid ' cash on collection ' . But then , in Wales we are a friendly lot.

Great thanks, fab website. But I have to go in to the store and pay the full amount up front to reserve so forget that ! Of course he tried to sell me the £399 one !

hi people, i went out and bought one of the £399 acer aspire 3634wlmi laptops from comet yesterday, very pleased with it however i am unsure as to whether my battery is working to its full potential. i switched it on when i got home at 12 o clock yesterday daytime and it stayed on until 8.30pm all the time connected to the ac adapter. i came to use it this morning without the power adapter and the battery only lasted 1 hour. is there something i should have done for example charge it overnight? is there some power save settings i should be aware of?

overall i am very happy with it but if the battery only lasts an hour it kind of dampens it.

i would appreciate any help

it should be better than 1hr though (at least for the first six months )

There are settings to alter, the screen brightness is one, change it to a 'none a/c' setting, obviously it will be dimmer
Turn off any bluetooth and wifi (unless you wanted to use them) if they are on this model

Has anyone found any of the 299 Acer laptops in Tescos recently or have they stopped doing them? I tried all Tescos in a 20mile radius last week plus some at my mums in southampton and no joy. No-one seemed to know if anymore were coming either. Just wondering if it worth ringing round again?

Now available online @ £299 plus £16.95 delivery charge, but only through Woolworths and not directly from Comet.

I noticed that this morning too! Just leads to a blank page now - looks like they've taken 2 Acer laptops off the site. Blimey, that didn't last long ...
