It's best to get the tel number of your local store and contact them. Some stores will hold one and phone you when they get their delivery. Guess you have to get to store quick - took us 15mins.

Local stores have them mostly reserved for people, before delivery - so Comet main/head office not much use.

Comet don't have local store numbers anymore, they just have one central number so you phone up and they can check the stock in all stores. Even when you go through yell.com they just give one number for Comet, they used to have their own store numbers

hi there. i was interested in these £299.99 laptops but it seems like they are hard to get. however i have seen this model http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/572_336467.html

it looks like the £299.99 but with double the hard drive and ram and also its an aspire rather than travelmate. i think it looks good for another £100 and was just wondering, it doesnt say online only on the price so does this mean it is available instore at this price?

oh and another question, does anyone know a way of getting the price down in store, for example my mum works for nhs and sometimes gets disounts at places like comet, does anyone know if you can get nhs discount at comet? and also i am a student and can you get student discount?

Yes this model is available instore at that price. Looks pretty good value especially as all the £299 ones have been snapped up.

was looking at this one to replace my £299.00 2414 and it is better value overall as you get the miles better screen, double the ram & HD. If you go thru Topcashback.co.uk, you also get 4% cashback. I ended up swapping the 2414 for a much better specified machine as I run lots of photo/video software on it and the 2414 was not up to the job.

Thanks for replies, well I called the order no again today and was told they will definatly be getting some more in after tomorrow at the same price. So I will be on the phone early Tuesday morning !!!

It is a great deal esp as it has a bulit in mike so perfect for skype etc

The only thing is delivery free if you order by phone or do you pick one up at your local store, how does it work ? There is no mention of the 2414 on the site btw ??

I would just keep phoning local stores, depending on how small/big your town is the laptops are in quite a few stores still (In the case of mine, they weren't even displaying the model in question!)

I think they are getting them in as fast as Acer can manufacture them at the moment.

RUBBISH - I phoned my local store to reserve and pick up my Acer !!!!!!!

You might have to personally visit the store to get their tel number. Each store does have a direct line number.

I'm only trying to help here and advise people how to get an Acer if they want one.

I rarely post on these forums any longer, because I notice ignorant people often seem to think they know better than the person giving advice and offering genuine assistance.
