I don't absorb iron from veggies, so I need to regularly eat red meat (beef or horse are best). So, whenever there is a business lunch I pick the sandwiches or dishes with beef, to avoid having to buy more of it at home. Husband and daughters have no problem absorbing iron from veggies.

DD needs iron supplements every day, @Siebrie. She doesn't absorb iron well either, so she has some sachets which she mixes with orange juice, but they don't taste very nice! 😣 She was told to have vitamin c with iron to help with absorption.2025 Fashion on the ration

There's all sorts of combinations of food that help/hinder absorption of the things we need, we should be taught this stuff in school.MrsCD said:DD needs iron supplements every day, @Siebrie. My family have exactly the opposite problem. Both my brothers have haemochromatosis, and I'm a carrier (which admitted doesn't affect me at all). Its a genetic condition that mainly people of Scottish and Irish decent get, where your body can't get rid of iron properly so it builds up and builds up, and if its not caught it will damage all your organs. Once it is diagnosed, you can treat it with regular blood letting, but its often not caught early so a lot or organ damage will have been done already. But yeah, my brothers are on a no red meat diet, and few green veg, and never with orange juiceSiebrie said:I don't absorb iron from veggies, so I need to regularly eat red meat (beef or horse are best). Apologies if this has been posted before but I was so excited to discover this.
Apparently UPVC doors and windows have a "winter" setting where you can tighten the seals to reduce draughts.
All you need is the appropriately sized Allen key.
Found a tutorial on YouTube it's so easy.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)6 -
I often fancy a hot Horlicks drink in winter but invariably find that the powder solidifies in the jar before it's half used, thus becoming useless. (And no, I never dip a wet spoon into the jar,).
Any suggestions on how I can stop this happening please?4 -
