Ithink our double glazing at around 45 years old is too ancient to have a "winter setting adjustment of any kind? Probably a more modern innovation?4

I only use tissues for blowing my nose, re-use would be a bit icky in my case.
For oil bottles (particularly the rectangular plastic ones with ridges, I wrap two folded pieces of paper towel around the middle and elastic band them on - it absorbs any drips before they reach the surface and is not so sticky to touch. They become quite saturated in oil and would make very good Firestarters if I had fires. (I burned one to see, it kept a flame for a long time!)
Does anyone else have a large collection of elastic bands, despite never buying any?Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Loads of elastic bands here! The post lady seems to like taking the bands of the buddies of letters as she walks down the drive to my door. Not the strongest of elastic bands though - don't seem to be particularly stretchy and break easily.3

I’m the same about elastic bands, don’t need to buy them thanks to postie dropping them on the floor. Just think how much money the Post Office would save if all the posties returned all the bands they used.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.005

I too have a large collection of blue rubber bands. I use them but as they dont break too oftem my collection is growing. I stitched another patch on my sofa today. I would take a photo but not got a phone that does this. I am a bit behind on this technology and actively avoid it. But take my word that it looks nice.21k savings no debt9

. . .My tip-of-the-day is that I save my old/used tissues in a jar on my dressing table, and then use them to blot my lipstick, after which I flush them down the loo. If I lived somewhere with a wood-stove, I’d fill a paper bag with them - after the lipstick - and then use that for kindling.
