Use it up,wear it out, make it do or do without.
I’ve written it at the front of my family diary/accounting book and hope to stick by it.
Apparently it was a saying from the Great Depression in America. I've adopted this as my mantra for years now, not that I've always been able to live up to every part of it:o. I write it in the front page of each new diary I start, just in case I forget it;)1 -
A thought about keeping hot water in a kettle for the next cuppa: I cover the hot kettle with my tea towel which keeps the water warmer without the need for a flask. 2 towels works even better.
May not be as effective as a flask but better than nothing and less bother?
Also if you're taking a flask out with you for the day, wrap it in a sock and it will stay hot for longer! And some cafes will refill your flask with hot water for free, eg any cafe run by a charity or religious body is likely to. In my experience. So I take teabags and a little bottle of milk, then have tea for the way out and the way back on a day trip.1 -
My water heater is a daewoo you fill it like a kettle but it only dispenses instant hot water when you press you decide how much. Much cheaper than boiling a kettle for one cup xCount down to retirement 20231

I've got one of those water heaters. After my husband died I kept putting the kettle on for a cuppa and never making the tea as I got distracted so when I saw a friend using one of those I thought it ideal for me. I have a Breville and if I press the button, the tea is made quickly. It's a great time saver as well as a money saver and lots of my visitors have bought their own since seeing mine. I still use the kettle for boiling water to cook pasta etc. or if I have a few visitors but most of the time I use the hot water machine.1

I have a hot water machine too. It serves variable quantities which I think is really useful1

I see the last bit as 'don't buy a replacement automatically'. For instance, if I have 3 pairs of jeans and wear one out, my instinct is to buy another pair of jeans! But: I already have 2 more pairs, and several other pairs of trousers, and skirts, and dresses...... Maybe I should start wearing them more and more, and wear them out and rag them (or not wear them and donate them), and only then decide whether I really need a new pair of jeans. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.591
