I've never taken to either, Coffeemate tastes sweet and oily, and milk powder different so its gotta be fresh moo juice for me - which is a bit weird considering where it comes from!

VfM4meplse. I am sure know some people who have to give their opinion on everything, no matter how trivial the subject is.

Well I am glad you are not one of those people!

We've never taken to Coffeemate either. I think reconstituted powdered 'ordinary' milk is a godsend for making sauces for instance so I'm never without some in my kitchen. I can certainly tolerate it in my hot drinks as I have coffee black and tea with just a 'splash' of milk but, sadly, DH wouldn't drink it at any price:(

Fair enough! If I found a decent alternative to milk in hot tea or coffee I would still be vegan 10 years on, I just wish such a thing existed because it would be kinder all round.

Have you tried Oatly in the grey bottle? I've tried every type of non dairy milk in tea as I have a problem with dairy and Oatly is almost perfect

Thanks for the tip! At £1.80/L it's pricey but I'll keep an eye out for it on offer :)

    Hi guys
I’m in the process of cutting down on dairy. The nice thing I’m finding about rice, coconut and oat milk is that they have a nice long date and don’t need refrigeration until use.
I don’t mind soya yogurt but I really don’t like soya milk.
Now all I have to do is convince OH to try them and I won’t need to buy milk as often.

Have managed to hit the supermarkets at a good time recently:
Asda's: 8 tubs of dairy free margarine at 15p each

Waitrose: 2 cheese scones 15p each; cauliflower - large 30p; paella from £8 down to £2; Chinese pork - 1/4 price; brown rice with other healthy bits 1/4 price; leeks 30p; Chicken Chasseur x 2 - 75% off; 2 flap jacks -15p each; two humongous uncut bread - one cut into two Halves; other cut into slices (which will make 6-8 servings of garlic bread 39p each; noodles 30p for a pack; 2 cooked chicken breast 1/4 price. Lemon Donut for hubby 15p; seeded uncut loaf 20p. So far we have had three meals from this haul and I have made leek and potato soup as well as chicken soup. The rest is in the freezer.

Hubby has taken the last of his reduced milk from the freezer - 20p for two pints.

The plastic bags the scones and flapjacks were in, i reused and placed the sliced bread in ready to make the garlic Bread with.

In the freezer hubby has an 'odds and ends' bread bag, it contains all the partially opened bread types eg end of uncut bread, thin pockets, pitta bread, odd bread roll, ends of a sliced loaf. This is now his go to place when he wants a munch and we are using up all the bits that have been floating around the four freezers.

  • We have fitted a lock on our tumble dryer,we are fed up of high electric bills. Our sons have a habit of putting things in the dryer and turning the dial on full then disappearing for hours, something that might need minutes to dry is left tumbling for hours.
They have been told to wash their clothes and put them on the radiators in the evening,we have the key to the dryer so we have total control over it use.:j
