Hi gem gem
I reuse the same compost year after year. I’ve been growing veg, particularly potatoes, in the same compost for years. It’s just a growing medium and so long as you feed regularly it’s fine. The only compost I changed was when I got tomato blight one year.
Whenever I dig up potatoes (I only grow them in pots), I leave any small ones in the pot and come April the following year most pots have sprouting spuds showing. I feed them weekly and by early June I’m digging up first batch of new potatoes.2 -
Hubby and I went to a quiz last night. I took one measure of sherry in a 1/4 wine bottle plus my water bottle. Hubby took two soft drinks from the fridge.
1 bag of crisps for everyone to share. All for less than the price of a drink at the bar.missychrissy wrote: »Hi gem gem

My friend used her old bath as a raised flower bed. It really was lovely.1

You have given me a great idea...I plan to have my bathroom redone this year and was wondering what to do with the bath, possibly using it as a plant bed. Spuds at the bottom of the garden sounds better
Spuds grow well in anything. I find they grow better in containers than the garden. Just feed feed feed.1 -

It was a private venue with a bar. I was very discrete with the sherry. Hubby and and I sometimes buy one drink each from the bar and then top up using their glasses. I wouldn't do it if I was in a pub.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

What do you feed them with?
I have an old recycling bin that I have put holes in. Also use large old plant pots.
The bath would look fab. I have also seen people use old wellies or walking books to plant flowers in. Has anyone tried them?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

One year we gathered up all the odd wellintons in the lost property at school. There were a lot of them, ranging from tiny ones from the nursery classes to the almost adult sizes for the 11 year-olds.
We drilled holes in the soles, filled them with compost, planted flower seeds and they lined the path up to the school. The children kept them watered and they looked lovely in the summer.. At the end of the summer term we sold them to the parents and gave the school fund a boost.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I made myself this from basic left overs
Bubble and squeak burgers
6 good sized cooked brussel sprouts
2 peeled boiled and mashed spuds
2 diced mushrooms, starting to look a bit weary in the fridge
a handful of diced red onion from the freezer
left over bits from the pack of cooking bacon I had bought
There were three good sized bacon chops which had been wrapped and frozen individually and the odd bits and pieces left over I used in the 'burgers'
I fried the bacon diced up to a crisp along with the onion, and chopped up mushrooms.
in a separate bowl I mashed the potato and brussel sprouts then added the cooked bacon, mushroom and onion mix .
I formed one pattie which I had cooked for lunch topped with a poached egg, and it was really nice.
After lunch I formed four decent sized (around a burger size ) patties from the mix ,dipped in flour ,egg and dried sage and onions stuffing mix. then put them separately on a small plate in the freezer and froze them
Once frozen I bagged them up for a side dish to have with either a couple of sausages or one of the bacon chops at some point in January.
a savoury and tasty potato burger type which I can cook straight from the freezer in the frying pan. I have a circulare frying pan which needs no oil to cook stuff in ,or I could even cook them in my remoska, a sort of crispy bake.Used all the odds and ends up so no wastage at all .I am really pleased with my 'bubble burgers ' cost to make was really time and a bit of flour, egg and stuffing mix ,all of which I had in the cupboards anyway.

i've seen this on a budget gardening page on facebook, it looks really fab esp as people have painted the outsides bright colours. i would drill holes in the bottom to help drainage, you don't want your precious harvest to rot if we get a few heavy downpours.1 -
Tried to take a load of stuff to the charity shop yesterday but they were closed so I took all of the clothes to one of those “cash for clothes” places & made £11!
Boyfriend’s birthday is today so, instead of buying a kind of rubbish themed cake for £12 from Tesco, I bought a £1.75 panettone in the Xmas clearance, a pack of fondant icing & decorated my own cake for about £6.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A.
