Did well in Tesco yesterday, went to the store at 4pm and bought x4 Kings mill loafs YS for 69p each.
Lots of meat on YS. Bought a great selection for freezer.
Todays dinner is Chicken mini roast for 2. With pork, sage and onion stuffing, chipolata sausages and gravy.
Was £4, now £2.36 on YS.
Bought some YS fruit = big bag of banana's 66p and green grapes £1.18.
Did not need any veg this time.
YS shopping realy does help save the penniies. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)1 -
Watched the show on ITV last night about Aldi & Lidl giving the 'big four' a run for their money - quite interesting but didn't think the people they got to shop there were very representative. I did chuckle at Millibands estimate of the grocery bill though - do you think our beloved leaders ought to take a look on here and see how things are in the real world? hahaSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Missed that show Silvasava
We have a Lidi in my town but I do not use it often. It is in the middle of the shopping centre and any shopping you have to carry to the carpark.
I like Tesco with trolley to the car.Free car parking.
I am not sure if Lidl and Aldi take coupons?
My coupon shopping this last shop at Tesco was...
Cussons mum & me baby shampoo 300ml. On offer @ 86p. coupon for 50p so spent 36p.
Will use this on my fine hair. OK
noticed on the milk a coupon for the strong spreadable cheese @ £1.48 - coupon 50p. so paid 98p a tub. x2.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

The price comparison between the supermarkets is always changing. I have a large shopping list on MSM and a few weeks ago T's were cheapest, then A$DA were very close last week. It changes all the time. I now find that one solution is to use the MSM shopping list as a basis and pick the cheapest items from the list from the store that you are visiting today. So if I know I need a few items and I am going to a store I will have a list of what I need and what the price point to look out for. If it is below that I buy if not I will wait until another day. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
I missed the show, but I might see if it's repeated, or watch it online. Would those who saw it say it's worth watching?2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

Hmm - depends on your point of view Wombat - I didn't think it really told anything we didn't already know. That's those of us that are at the 'coalface' so to speak!
Frugal - I use MSM too to see who'se the cheapest for particular items. I'm quite lucky as I have all the supermarkets within a 5 mile radius & can usually combine a trip to one of them along with some thing else. You're certainly right about the fluctuations in prices though - I think we all qualify for a degree in economicsSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle1 -
I watched it in the end, and I agree with you silvasava, it didn't tell me anything new. What I found interesting was what they were saying about how the big 4 can't out-discount the discount supermarkets, so they need to focus on other things to draw customers in.
Unfortunately, where I live, it's Mr T, or Wait Rose, so we go to Mr T. But they are in the process of building more supermarkets, including one of the discounters, so I'm looking forward to that.2016 MFW no. 47 £0/£3,000

Today dd and I went to Homebase (15% off day).
She picked out a tomato plant and a strawberry plant. She's always talking about Lavender so she picked out a mini Lavender tree. I picked a couple of other plants.
Back at home we potted them up and she has her own corner of the patio. We also planted out her Sunflower plants that had been growing on the windowsill. She learned how to tie them to a stake. At 5 years old she did really well with the gardening.
We had also bought some decorative stakes from poundland and other wind ornaments so the garden is looking much nicer now.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
Thumbs up Bublin. Glad to hear you bought food plants as well as flowers.
Can you grow any from seed in a marg/ice cream tub?
Today husband has done planting out. We now have courgette plants (grown from seed). in some pots n the decking. then some more in a £1 grow bag under a climbing rose. the roots of the rose are taking up all the soil in the ground.
I like looking at the large yellow courgette flowers.
Made Oh a scoop for soil out of a empty plastic milk bottle. i think they get thrown away. Very handy.
I am now saving the empty milk bottles to cut a wide strip/collar from the bottom end. To put around plants for easy watering. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0
