On the subject of saving water. I just brought an electric syphon pump from ald** for just over £5 but along with my large trug in the shower and a length of old hosepipe I can easly move the water from my bathroom to wherever I need it ..

  • I am fortunate enough that I live within 2 miles of Ikea so I use these as dish cloths and for wiping down my work surfaces, I can then bleach them back to white. I cut and re sew the edges and get 2 good size cloths from 1 towel :j

My son lives on his own in a one bed flat ground floor we asked for a water meter because just under £40 seems a lot we were told it would only save around £50 and cos its a council flat they cant do it on the website it says he could save
At least £150 big difference i shall be on the phone first thing monday he is trying to save hes even using his solar panels
In the flat so its free electric
Who told you that you can't get a water meter? If he has been in the property more than 6 months and the meter is not on the property then you do not need their permission! (I know from experience) I have saved a lot of money being on a meter here.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Hi mos thats a good find no ikea by me
I just use the towels weve got esp the ones wrecked when youngest used to dye her hair brown not so bad now shes gone blonde its what my mum didchop em down sew em good to go same with flannelette sheets doubles when threadbare would be resewn for single beds then when no good for single beds became dusters or into box for polishing shoes

I use a4.5 tog single quilt instead of pillow its easier to get washed and dried and no hassle to get into pillow case

    For the drivers.
When you park turn your engine off before you press the button to up the windows.
Once engine is off, switch the key back up so only the eletrics work and then 'wind-up' the window. Less petrol usage.

Is the pillow made out of the quilt comfy?

Sounds a good idea - my DH plays havoc with pillows as he sweats through his head a lot so I'm always washing them & can never get them back in a good shape.
Do you just fold the quilt into a plain pillowcase & then put it in the 'top one'??
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I would imagine the best way is to fold it length ways and then roll up. Then put in the pillow case.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
