I've been using wet wipes for years to clean clothes, I used to be a registered childminder, and without them I would have been a very grubby bunny at the school gate.

They are quite good at cleaning leather settees too, though unwanted baby/body lotion is even better. The same goes for leather shoes and handbags.

I discovered this thread recently and am gradually working my way through it. There's lots of top tips about washing machines, not using conditioners, reducing powder, using washballs, using short washes etc.
Recently I have been cutting out the spin altogether, if practicable eg having an outside line where it can drip until its stopped dripping. If its warm or breezy it will then continue to dry out or brought inside to finish drying. This will save energy and wear and tear on the machine. And you will need a bucket/bowl to empty the dripping laundry into.

Apologies if it has been covered, - to clean my washing machine and the pipes, i run a empty wash on 90C once a week, (ours in on daily, sometimes twice daily). The hot water cleans the pipes and steams the machine x

If you use regular soap in the shower, stick some rubber bands around the soap dish so the soap doesn't actually rest on the soap dish - this helps it dry out a lot quicker and stops it from disintegrating and being washed away by the water.
    ...

    I have a better one :D

Press a beer bottle cap right into the new bar, and make sure that the soap rests on that in the dish. The cap doesn't affect the feel of the soap in the hand but it dries out very quickly and lasts SO much longer.

    MY SNEAKY WAY?

My friend was selling his Blackberry Z10 for 200 back in Feb and wouldn't go down on his price. I waited until a week ago about it and he said it is now 130. I offered 100 and he accepted it. So, I said I will give him a nice dinner for that! It's always good to wait!

Turn 100g mince, 3 diced carrots, a diced onion, and a tin of tomatoes to make a lasagna for 4. Basically replace 3/4 of the normal recipe mince with veg, trust me, no one will notice! It makes a pack of mince go o much further.

Mix 3 heaped tbsp milk powder with 2 heaped tbsp of cornflour, 500mL water and salt and pepper with 1 heaped tbs grated cheese for the bechemel sauce

I am cooking a vegi lasagna this afternoon as part of a batch cook.
I will be replacing the mince with spinach £1 for a 200g bag.
    Made 6 portions

In the same half size oven (we have a double oven, both half size) I am cooking Beef bougnon. Stewing steak, onions, value mushrooms and to bulk it out a pck of Tesco root vegetables720g.
    Made 6 portions

Same hot oven an apple crumble with fresh cooking apples and x2 fruit cakes x1 cake will be a gift to extended family.
The cake for us,I cut into 8 slices.
Glad I baked the cakes. More family came to visit and I had cake to offer with their hot drinks.

I like batch cooking. Always hopefull on electric saving.

I'm using an empty mushroom box (plastic carton) to start my seeds off in. :)
I read somewhere yesterday about growing lettuce from the stem of a supermarket bought lettuce-so I have a stem in water-I did try this with spring onions but it was naff and didn't work for me. I hope to have more success with this. :)
I tried this with a romaine lettuce and was thrilled to bits when it grew so quickly. Trouble was when we tasted it the leaves were really bitter and ended up in the compost bin. Still, I suppose it was growing my own compost ingredients for nothing;):)
I hope that you have more success with yours. (I've split those 'living salad' tubs before, and replanted them in a tub at the back door. Perfect to harvest as required, if you can keep the slugs off them! :) )

Apart from swapping to a cheaper brand, a good way to save on pet food (dry food/kibbles) is to work out exactly how much your pet needs for its weight, and then weigh each meal in advance. I put the correct amount of food in empty spread tubs etc., and weigh up enough for 3-4 days in advance. Remember to reduce the amount of dry food if your pet gets a lot of treats or leftovers.

I find that whenever I guesstimate the amount, I give my dog far more than he needs. This way, I save money and my dog stays trim and healthy.
