I don't know if this has been mentioned before, and if I have repeated this, then I'm sorry. Yesterday, my DS, who will be 1 next week, was eating some white chocolate, and just had to wipe his sticky, chocolatey hands all over my jeans (as you do). Cos I shortly had to pick up my DD from nursery, there was no time to change, so I used a baby wipe to clean my jeans. Today, they look like nothing ever happened.

I know the most frugal thing would have been to use a wet flannel, but the wipe was to hand, and I've saved on the electricity, water and washing powder that putting the jeans in the wash would have entailed. I will now ensure that I always carry baby wipes for mucky clothes emergencies.

I have started (and will continue) to start saving any form of box I can for cupboard storage.

I need a box for potatoes/onions and my sale stuff from Hotel Chocolat was the perfect size (literally, the perfect fit) for what I needed! Also I had a box of Persil washing up taps, and after washing it out all my chocolate bars are in there. Latest was from a punnet of grapes, and I now have all of my nuts (no crude jokes please ;)) in there, in seperate plastic bags (walnuts, cashews, peanuts).

I am sure this is obvious to a lot but it saves a lot on cupboard storage space and it is good not to waste anyway.

I'm using an empty mushroom box (plastic carton) to start my seeds off in. :)
I read somewhere yesterday about growing lettuce from the stem of a supermarket bought lettuce-so I have a stem in water-I did try this with spring onions but it was naff and didn't work for me. I hope to have more success with this. :)

Good luck. You've got nothing to lose, either way.

Wombat - a lady in my local CS told me they always treat minor stains on clothes with wet wipes & since then I've found them invaluable. Even cleaned the collar of a silk jacket I have (CS find!) so I didn't have to have it cleaned. Cleans carpet spills a treat too
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Thanks for that, silvasava. For a minute, I thought it was possibly a crazy idea. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one doing it.

By the way, completely off topic, I know, but I've spotted that I just got my first star. That has definitely cheered me up! :j

I have often had to clean my jeans in the car with a wet wipe. Sometimes just because I've been a messy eater. :o or dropped chocolate on my leg and not noticed until it's melted. :o :rotfl:
