Budgie sending you aWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0

I got up early too to watch the results - funny how I can spring out of bed for this, for work however????

Gien - I love watching the election coverage too! Really need to get out more..
Sober here today too.
14 days sober as of tomorrow
Went to the homeless charity on Wednesday, expecting to work. Turned out that the Manager was looking to do a proper interview instead. The chap is great, if a little slow..I asked him about vounteering there, last November!
He asked me if I had any questions, as it always goes at the end of an interview - I replied, "Yep. When do I start?!"
We eventually agreed that I'll be working next Mon, Tues, and Thursday. Feels great to have a focus again, and a clear head.
Tomorrow, I'll have a bit of cash (and hopefully a bit more than expected, as my Ebay parcel has finally arrived in Edmonton, Alberta, after taking a week to get through Customs..) so I am going to have to watch out for the monkey, who has a bad habit of trying to hop on my back..
Don't get me started on PayPal, as I'm in a good mood!
Enjoy your evening everyone,
Sim x
Well done Sim. If I know I am going to be in a more dangerous drinking situation than normal (say a wedding or a Christmas do) , I take insurance against it. I go to a meeting, I share that I need to be cautious without being fearful, and I prepare myself. I tell myself I can leave at ANY point. I know what drink I am going to have (Coke or Lime & soda normally) so I am not caught unawares.
I know that my will power will not keep me from drinking, for I tried to stop drinking using will power for years. It doesn't work for many people on this thread either. We regularly see statements (made sincerely and honestly) like "Next time will be different" , "I must be more vigilant in the future" , and "I really need to get a grip and take control"
The sad reality for many (but by no means all people on here) is that by doing nothing different, then nothing will change. That was the case with me. Trying harder didn't bring more success. If anything, it brought me more misery as I felt the task of dealing with my alcoholism was insurmountable.
What needed to change was me. The alcohol I drank didn't need to change. The times I drank didn't need to change. The people I drank with didn't need to change.

Morning all, some of you were up very early this morning .
Aiming for another AF day here. I've decided I am going to the pub to see the band as planned tonight. I popped in on the way back from voting last night and had a tonic water (only there 1/2 hour). Nobody seemed to comment so I'm going to be brave with tonight.
Nice one on the 4 AFDs Jo
Hope everyone has a good Friday. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Morning
AF yesterday so a Merry 4 for me please DB.
I won't be AF today because my neighbour is having an election results party (she's the auntie or some connection of the new MP) but I'm aiming for a Sat or Sun AF day. I'll report in on Monday.
Have a good day all.
