In regards to the 'drunk' personality and not liking that person, unfortunately for me I think I prefer my drinking self :o which is not good really and a problem of a different kind, when I have a drink I do seem to be more happy with the world and relaxed in general,

I don't think I'd like the drunk me - not that I'd know of course - but I like the "on the second glass" me; definitely sharpens my wits & I can be entertaining chatty (& not too drunk for this to be a delusion!). That's when the trouble starts though - at this point it seems like a GREAT idea to carry on & of couse there is no exponential improvement in your mental skills the more you drink!

OH is staying over tonight so won't be AF, but am being quite good already by my low standards :D - usually by 5pm I'm on the second bottle but I haven't had any yet, it's only just this second gone in the fridge (note: "it" & note not the freezer!) so am making best efforts not to go straight back to 2 bottles after 2 days off (I slept 8 hours straight last night after 2 afds, it's when I drink I get the sleep issues so I guess I've a lot to catch up on!). He'll be surprised I've not got a glass on the go when he arrives.

I know what you mean WB. I feel more chatty, witty and sociable with a couple of glasses. (I wish I could keep it to that.)

Bells have rung for me tonight loudly - trying not to cave in but may do - better find something to eat that will curdle with alcohol

Actually now the craving is subsiding now I have got this out on here

Declaring another AF day here, so 7 for me please DB.

I managed to keep to the tonic water up the pub which I feel good about but I just found it so hectic and the music so loud that I've slipped off early - must be showing my age :o

I think some of my problem when out socially is that I'm not confident in crowded places so I just drink to blur it all in a bit. I realised tonight that I do chat and join in whether I've had a drink or not, but I find it a bit suffocating. So I'm back home with a cup of tea, waiting for DH to come back. Band was good though, so I'm glad I went.

Hope everyone else is having a good Friday evening. Pen x
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Not af today, but it is my Birthday so wll let myself off :D have got my new ipd form y pressi so will be downloading the running podcast tomorrow Marru can't wait to start on Sunday....

Hope everyone is where they want to be tonight....I probably won't be af tomorrow but will jump back on the wagon on Sunday xxx

Agree with WB and 114k when I said I prefer myself when I have had a drink I mean with 1 or 2 when I feel really relaxed and myself, not after a skkinful when I just feel rubbish...think my task for tomorrow is to ask dh an honest question about my personality drinking and non drinking...

    Night all xx

    Hi all,

Pen - Congrats on sticking to the tonic water!

I know what you mean, about crowded pubs.. I always drank to help feel more at ease in crowds too.

As Graeme said, all of us can say to ourselves, if things get too much - 'I can leave the pub at any time' :) (Thanks Graeme for your supportive, wise words too!)

    69Chick - Happy Birthday! xx

14 days sober for me today.

    Feels great.

Had some money through today, at long last from Ebay / PayPal, for the jacket I sold to the chap in Canada.

There was a time, (about 2 weeks ago...) when I would've blown that money, as soon as it'd gone into my account.

Instead, I paid my rent arrears off this afternoon.

Then paid my Girlfriend, the first repayment towards the dosh she lent me.

    Paid off BT.

Next up is to pay my Broadband. Will do this in the morning :)

Feels so good, to be doing the normal boring stuff, and staying on top of it for a change!

Now..I *could* buy the bike I wanted, to motivate me to get out and about, and get fit again..

However, now the money is in my account, I don't want to blow it!

I even considered buying a much needed desk for my Mac..and a pair of half decent speakers (ahem, hardly an essential, but I miss being able to have a blast of my music in the lounge!)

Or..I could always be sensible and keep the money in my account / pay some / all to my debts :)

    I'll decide by Sunday.

Have had a little treat tonight, and enjoyed a £10 Mexican pizza and a couple of Cokes from my local Pizza takeaway.. Gulp.. bit steep, but very tasty :P

    Night night guys and gals,

    Sim xx
