Well - you did ask for it ;)

I challenge you to draw an 8 week training plan to achieve - lets say - sub 50 in July and put the plan in the running thread.

Here tip: couple of easy runs (like lunch break with comfortable speed), park run as tempo run (but don't go killing yourself at least not every time) and one long run, increasing the long run distance every week. Should be good for the basics - I am sure the pros will then help you further. My training plan is HERE (haven't updated since Thursday thou)

Ok - I am off for a bath.....

Glad those test results were good WB, you sound in a great mood, good idea about the support groups, hope you can get somewhere with that..

All you runners are making me think, I might give running a go myself (or tbh it might be a little bit of running and some fast walking)...I often read about people starting off not being able to run far, but building it up to long distances, but I always think that would never be me, so any advice would be good.......this from a girl who used to forge her mums notes to get out ot cross country at school :o
I can def say af tonight as in jammies and nothing in the house, feel quite ok but did have a wobble earlier so thats wednesday done of the challenge please sparkles x don't know what I did to indent my post but hey ho.....

I had a thought that I don't know if it is a good or bad idea and I don't even know if I can explain it right.....you know like on those food threads on here, if people post a recipe it gets put on the first page and linked somehow so that you can just go to that page and get the recipes without trawling through pages and pages of posts...well I was wondering whether we could do something like that on here, with perhaps tips, motivational ideas, comments etc. even poems lol....that could be used as a recource if any of us need motivating at any time of the day/night....

As I said I don't know if it is viabe or not but just a thought and also how it would be organised etc...anyway feel free to comment etc. (or just tell me to booger off :p)

    I like that idea :T

I had a couple of poems that struck a chord not so long back. If peeps are in agreement I'll hunt them out & add links :)

ps.I have a baby-steps running plan that I'm going to try, if you want a copy drop me a PM & I can email it :)

That's great news winebox and well done for not using the good nature of the news to celebrate the wrong way.

I would have joined the challenge but I'd already set myself a different challenge on my own of going from the end of this latest bank holiday to the start of the next one at the end of the month without drinking in midweek.

nothing special as challenges go, but it's been ages since I last stayed completely sober between monday and friday. I rarely get absolutely hammered on schoolnights but that's not really the point, having 2 or 3 pints after work every day during the week is bound to cause damage(eeek, I'm starting to sound like those adverts!) and it also blows a huge hole in my limited budget.

Weekends are for me to wind down so whilst I shall be mindful of both not drinking to excess and/or spending beyond my means, I would quite like to relax with a few beers amongst friends or a bottle of wine over dinner at someone's house.

Today has been AF, put three quarters of the little bottle of wine into the bolognaise sauce and had a wry smile on my face as I poured the rest down the sink!

so that's 2 AF days in a row for me now. I can honestly say, with a hefty dose of regret and an equal amount of shame, that I haven't done this in probably 5 years!

But today I feel chuffed to bits about it!

This thread has been the overwhelming driving force behind me wanting to do it, so thanks a million!

at his post or the thought of him running? ;)

All this running talk is scary. Too many parts of me move independently in different directions - & I don't mean my legs!

Off to join those of you in the bath now..then bed with a book - I'm reading one of DD's, obviously having reduced my brain to the level of a 10-year-old! Anyone read the Stieg Larsson Millennium books? Just bought them, not started yet.....all 3 for £10 from Amazon, should last longer than 2 bottles of wine for the same money unless I morph into that woman on The Champions who could read a book in about one minute (dunno what they put in typhoo these days but it's working!)

Goodnight all...been awake since 4am so an early one for me x

P.S. (I will shut up after this) - even survived the pub at lunchtime - 2 diet cokes & a few raised eyebrows!
