The cutting out/cutting down alcohol thread (part 7)

I was on my way home from work early today, and I was tired, I had a load of cash in my pocket to pay the guy fixing the car, and I wanted to sleep. And Christ I wanted a few beers or a bottle of wine. I nearly stopped in the off-licence, but just managed to convince myself to go home. Or rather, walk past it and not go back.
I have lots of wine and beer (and various other forms of booze) in the garage, but didn't really have to fight myself hard to not go and get some this evening. Seemed easier than normal, and easier than ages ago.
I'm actually looking forward to having a few drinks on Friday, as long as I don't have any before then.
And one of the things about cutting down, two people at work today said I looked like I've lost weight! Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0 -
brokepaolo wrote: »Thanks, and yes it did really hit home once I'd written it down. Thinking it in itself was a boost after feeling so down in the dumps yesterday but writing it down was even better.
For too long in my life, I've resorted to pressing the self destruct button whenever I've felt down and after yesterday's blues, I woke up quite anxious and worried that I'd feel that way indefinitely.
But I'm glad to report that despite work being quite stressful today, I got my head down and got through a mountain of work, then went straight home without stopping at the pub for a 'reward'. I hoovered the whole house, sorted out two loads of washing, popped to the shop for some food for dinner(steak and chips which cost me just £3 in total) and sat myself down to watch the excellent programme 'Luther' which was on just now on BBC1.
What I thought would be a bad day turned into a great day and I want more of them.
Thanks everyone, I know sometimes my posts may be a bit on the long and rambling side so I hope I haven't infringed on this very supportive and useful space too much.
Good night.
Hiya Paolo,
Good on ya, for turning it all around.
Wasn't Luther brilliant?!
I was told earlier, that Idris Alba is in The Wire..
Seems that I'm the only person, in the entire World, who hasn't seen it! :rotfl:
Sounds like you've has a productive start to your week Paolo. Onwards andf Upwards mate.
All the best to all you guys and gals,

Still not AF here but will get a Merry day in tomorrow. I promise!!!
Brokepaolo, don't worry about rambling there's a lot of it about!
Sim, you're doing great and good luck with the volunteering.
wb, good luck for tomorrow with the tests, sorry life is hard for you at the mo.
MissP, you sound quite philosophical about MIL, well done you. Don't beat yourself up about OH's daughter, that's typical of teenage girls, don't take it to heart. Just keep treating her as you always would regardless of MIL poking her nose in.
:T to everyone doing well on the (various) challenges.
Budgie, when does DS get home?

Morning Jo and everyone,
Sim, the Wire was very addictive, I expect you'll enjoy it. Good luck with the volunteering.
WB, good luck with the test results.
I had a great night's sleep but feel like I need a few more now, really didn't want to wake up when the alarm went.
Feel much more positive today.
