Hello folks, just popping back in to say howdy. I've been off the rails a bit. Bruised my bum this week in a drunken altercation with a friends garden rockery whilst sneaking a ciggy when I 'don't smoke' except when I'm drunk and OH is away. Feeling a bit odd about the whole thing as I never learn and am finally recognising that things need to change but then nothing does.

Same old mornings of never again and by the evening I am at least having a bevvy or two. Not too much all the time but too much too often out of the last 3 weeks, that's for sure.

I've had one AFD since last checking in and that was last month.

I hope you lot are all doing well.

At least you remembered how you did it:rotfl: I used to wake up with loads of unidentified drinking injuries, and wouldn't have a clue how they came about. Since not drinking, I know where I have picked up every bump and bruise!!

Things only changed for me when I changed myself.
Otherwise, nothing would have changed, and I would still be drinking, and still be miserable about it.
Just hoping I would stop drinking in the future is classic denial.

However, I had to be ready to change. Until I got to that point, there was no point in me even trying to stop drinking (maybe apart from then learning from experience that will power has nothing to do with it and I couldn't do it by myself)

    Morning all

Feeling carp again today. Piglet woke up at 11.30 last night and proceeded to throw up all over the landing carpet. My sore throat, neck and face is still going on too. Its pants. Perhaps there's lots of bugs going round Jo. I just wish they'd bug-ger off!(another word mse doesn't like!)

Piglet slept like a log after being sick whereas I slept really badly, having one ear open for him being poorly again. And I slept funny and my neck is killing me today. Someone just shoot me please!? And he asked for coco pops this morning, saying he felt better. praying he keeps THEM down_pale_. Shall hover with a bowl just in case (although he seems perkier than ME!!). He's happily watching a dvd...inflicting "Barney" on me which is really unfair...am I not ill enough!?!

WBF - sorry but did laugh at your rockery incident. I had a similar incident with a holly bush after a works christmas party many years ago. I was running to get my taxi and fell headlong. Still have the scar on my leg:o. Alcohol has a lot to answer for.

69chick - well done to your DS for his sports day!:TMmmm...KFC Boneless box.....

Anyway, I feel the need for another very strong :coffee:

Catch you all later. And where are Budgie and Honeybear!?

    Miss P
    xx

  • Miss P, my two were Barney mad as toddlers, trust me compared to their viewing preferences these days I'd happily swap ! (My name is Earl, Scrubs etc etc)

    Happy to report 5 :)

So glad it's Friday, one son at work tonight, other at sleepover, the remote is all Mine !!

I haven't been here for a while but thought I'd drop in. I think all of you who have stopped drinking are marvellous! Well done!:T

I don't want to stop altogether but I do want to cut down - its bad for you and also full of calories and I could do with losing a bit of weight. My trouble is that if I stick to Malibu, which is a bit weaker, I tend to put more in because its weaker and this piles the pounds on! So I then have vodka or gin instead and put half the amount in and then I really do feel as though Ive had a drink for a lot less calories.

I was saying to someone in a pm that in the summer I tend to drink more diet pop because when you are relaxing in the garden you can get fed up with plain old water and its nice to have a big, cool glass of diet icecream soda or something else refreshing. Trouble is, I then start to think how much nicer it would be if I put something else in it! (ie vodka) Does anyone else have this sort of trouble?

Yesterday didnt feel difficult still no bells though did find myself thinking somethink was 'missing' as I was makeing dinner last night. But couldnt work out what is was!!! Did have lots of fizzy water & enjoyed it.

Got to get a push on, hope to be back this evening
Hope Thursday will be good to you all
    Take care
    Peedie

    Well done Peedie.
Every period of being AF starts with not drinking for one day.
Just as every time I got drunk started with the first drink - for it was the first drink that got me drunk.

Keep going and see if you can do the next 24 hours. :T

Treepotato1 I see where you are coming from on the Not England and Not England thing :rotfl::rotfl: However I am really excited about The world cup and love watching all the teams, there are always some characters from other countries too..

Miss P sending lots and lots of :grouphug: and hoping Piglet and you are all better soon x

My girls are not at nursery today (I don't work on a Friday woo hoo) and they are behind me playing mummys and babies with one of them putting the other to bed and being all 'mummy' like to her, guess you would have to be here but its soo funny to listen to :D

beachbeth :hello: and welcome, this is the place to be if you want support trying to give up or cut down on your drinking...think most of us get where you are coming from....The only tip I would have is someone on here mentioned once a practice called 'surf the urge' it sort of means when you get the 'urge' to drink just kind of ride it out and see if you can get past it - that one really works for me as if I don't go on autopilot and just get the drink out I can realise that I am over that feeling, not explaining it that well but hopefully you can sort of get it :D The other thing for me, which I don't like really is not to have drink (wine for me) in the house, if it is here I will always think I might as well have it to 'get it out of the way' if drinking means going out to get booze, you may find that you can't be bothered or by the time you are ready to go out (+ realise that you have to 'pay' for it as well) you might not bother...

Hope everyone has a good Friday xx

Thank you 69chick and Marru...am sure we will all be feeling better soon (although if we don't I do have an alternative...as you will see by my FB status!!:rotfl:)

Kids are so funny aren't they?? Piglet is being extra cute today (as if trying to make up for me having to shampoo a carpet at midnight!:rotfl:)

He just asked me to sing "Blah Blah Black Sheep" to him:D and earlier we were playing "I Spy" and he said he spied something beginning with green! (a tree...we were in bedroom...with curtains shut!!:rotfl::rotfl:)
