I actually do have a sound sensible older brother, and I still ended up alcoholic. :rotfl:
Living happily with this illness is an inside job - I have to fix me internally, not everything around me
Well, you still sound like a cracking bloke to me Graeme!
Hope you've had a good start to your week.
Thank You, for your last few posts.
I got a lot of positivity, and practical ideas from them.
Have had quite a good day today.
This evening, I'm feeling the best I have done in weeks. Quite calm, which feels good.
My Girlfriend came over again yesterday, and was buzzing my flat repeatedly. I didn't answer.
She then texted - "Came over, but no answer. What on earth is going on."
I emailed her, to say her behaviour had been unacceptable. (Thanks Bismarck, for your kind words, and helpful advice too)
Told her that I'd had enough of the verbal abuse, and this coupled with her hitting me, would never happen again.
I said, that just because I owe her money, and just because I have a drink addiction, this does not give her carte blanche, to verbally insult me, or to hit me.
The email bounced back, so I called her, and told her all of the above instead.
She kept saying sorry, and I think she is genuinely sorry.
She kept asking to come over yesterday, and I politely told her no, as it wouldn't be a good idea.
Told me I'd broken her heart. I stood firm, as I don't trust her, to be in my flat. She's far too unpredictable.
So, haven't heard from her since yesterday, thank goodness. Really needed the space.
Had a fairly early night, last night, as I felt a bit low.
Woke up about 6.30am, feeling very low. Went back to sleep, and got up around 1.30pm
My friend (who I met in AA. She's lovely, and has been sober 16 months, with the help of rehab last year) was due to come over at 3pm, and I still hadn't tidied my place.
So, I dusted / hoovered / washed up / spruced up / had a shower, cleaned up the whole flat, and she arrived at 3.
First thing she said, was "Have you had a new carpet?" :rotfl:
Was great to see her. We walked to the shop, for an ice cream, and had a great chat for a few hours.
Feels fantastic, to have cleaned up my flat, after it was looking grubby due to drinking 2 weeks ago / last week.
She thinks my GF has been a 'b*tch', but I have not resorted to calling her names. Am trying to see a healthy way forward, for us both.
Have eaten the other half of my Chicken Korma ( courtesy of Indian Takeaway last night :A ), and I have a Double Caramel Magnum for pudding, to enjoy, while watching the WWDC (Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple), where he might launch new Apple toys, which I can't afford..Yes, I'm an Apple - nerd :rotfl:
Off now, to chuck out recycling, and rubbish / wash up / clean up kitchen / hang laundry to dry, and enjoy my tidy flat (am a bit OCD at times too)
Graeme - I loved, what you said about not drinking / changing your attitude, being an 'inside job'. Heard this at AA, and it is so true.
Sally Brampton, at The Times, talks a lot of sense too, doesn't she?
Return to Work interview tomorrow, with JCP.
Wednesday, I'm back to the homeless shelter. Looking forward, to helping out there again.
Boss, has been in touch, just seeing if things are ok.
Have kept him, in the picture, by email.
Seeing Substance Misuse Worker, again next week, to discuss possibility of applying for funding, for rehab. Scary
Enjoy your evening guys,

PS - After all that wittering, I never actually got to the point (I do this a lot!)
Sober today
3 days sober now

Bagged a bargain pack of mince at the local Mr T's earlier ...£2.70 for nearly a kilo of lean steak mince:T:money:. So we've just had a lovely dinner of homemade beefburgers, theres 4 more on freezer plus enough mince to do a lasagne!:)
Just leting dinner go down and will then work up energy to go out to garage and get on the dreaded crosstrainer!:rotfl:

Sorry to hear that RA.
I lost my Girlfriend, of 5 years, due to my drinking.
Can't even imagine, what it's like to have been married.
Have things got better, since you stopped drinking?
All the best mate.
