    Good on ya Maman :)

So, you recommend this Kudzu then? Herbal gubbins for the cravings?

PS - I'm so jealous of you having a garden!

    Hi Sim

Yes, Kudzu was suggested on here. It could be psychological but I feel that if I take it late afternoon I'm sort of preparing myself for an AF evening ahead. It doesn't actually stop you drinking though.

'night Sim. You did well tonight with your drinking buddie:T

    Hello Guys,

    Hope you are all well.

I need my life to slow down a bit but otherwise I`m doing fine. Still AF ....LOL I`m even thinking `when did I ever have the time to drink?`!!

I did have a strange moment this week....my neighbours put out their `blue recycling box`...it was full to the brim of bottles...wine, vodka etc & it made me remember how I would not put all my bottles in my recycling box so the neighbours would not see how full it was & the collection truck operatives would`nt think I drank too much......it just reminded me of the `denial ` thats all.

I`m waffling again but wanted to get those thoughs out of my mind..

    Stay strong everyone.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Good morning all! Hope everyone is ok today. Well done all those who intended staying AF yesterday and did it! Ahem....I didn't do it:o. I was watching the coverage of the awful events in Cumbria and before I knew it I had a glass of wine in my hand. Still, it was only the one so am ok with it.

Making cakes this morning and have to pop to shops first so better get a shifty on! Catch up with you all later!

    Hi all,

Was just wondering what you all do to keep yourselves busy when not drinking.

I go to meetings, do my housework, keep busy, be with my family all the usual stuff really but still have time when my mind wanders. Weekends still get me sometimes.

Do any of you read any good blogs about recovery?

    Sober love and vibes

    xxxxxxx

    Hi Jeff,

I can't speak for everyone but I find listening to music, on vinyl mainly, is a particularly effective distraction from drinking for me. The physical act of flipping through the records, selecting one, playing it and then repeating the process is very relaxing for me in a way that possibly only drinking used to relax me. I like to make a bit of a mess of the room by having the records strewn all over the place which then gives me another distraction when I have to tidy them all up again when I've listened to them.

Can't recommend any blogs, sorry, but I'm sure there are loads of them out there.

In other news, I had a lovely evening yesterday, I went to see a friend's art show at a local gallery. She's studying fine art at university and this was a chance for her and her fellow students to showcase their work in a proper gallery for the first time. I must confess to indulging in a couple of plastic cups' worth of cheap cider which were being offered to people there but when we went to the pub afterwards, I had a pint of ice cold lemonade which was sat there in a pitcher at the end of the bar and looked so astonishingly tasty that I completely ignored the beers and ciders.

woohoo! I've just had a phonecall from the local bikeshop saying that they've built my bike and I can go and pick it up today. I signed up for the government's cycle scheme where my employer pays for my bike and I pay £20 out of my wages per month for a year to ride around on a brand new top of the range bike! I can't wait to make good use of it this weekend assuming the weather remains as glorious as it is this morning!
    jusqu'ici tout va bien

    Hi all,

What a lovely morning & how pleasant last night?!? I live about 500 ft up in the pennines in w.yorks (not the warmest place) but have LOVELY pennine views from my quiet patio!!

Had a nice afternoon pottering around potting off tomato plants (well proud as grew them from seed-one of those 89p propogating kits at B&M bargains) & putting them in my £20 plastic walk-in greenhouse...which is now stuffed with chillis, an aubergine plant & peppers! Have jalapeno chillis (grown from seed-still only 4 inched tall but shooting up), scotch bonnet chillis (again-well proud as just took fresh seeds out of a chilli i bought-took 4 weeks to germinate though!)...cheyeene chillis (orange hot chilli-bought plug plants at wilco!)-now 1 1/2 ft tall & flowering & cayenne (again wilco bought!)-hot red chillis-flowering just & 1 foot tall! Also have a market bought aubergine in the g/house & one yellow & one green courgette plant (market bought) in lower shingle garden...had to replace the green courgette as the two main leaves were munched away completely by slugs (how dod they do that?? It was in a big pot-but neaer a flat wall...maybe thats how they got it?!)-replaced with a new one & raised pots off the ground with 2 small pots & moved away from wall.

Gardening/being outside is a real tonic for boredom..!

Was not AF last night...no cravings but decided on buying some cider. Dod NOT buy usual bigh bottle of voddie (purposefully thought 'I don't want to get wasted or be hungover/unable to drive 2morrow)...so not beating myself up at all. My sis is coming to see us Saturday so will be AF TILL THEN (& THEN ONLY A GLASS OF WINE OR 2 WITH A BBQ!)...don't think she's ever seen me looking so healthy!!!

SIM-WELL DONE M8 for 5 days clear-especially after a 3 day binge!!!! You'll REALLY start to feel good at the 7 day mark! If you get urges to buy booze etc...I'd be inclined to write reasons down & do a '+' & 'minus' columny ting...works for me! Or pop on here if you feel the urge....if you look at diet, supplements etc it all helps! (Sorry-sounding preachy there but remember my worst binge-a week off work 'sick'...took me around a week to feel normal again-forced myself to eat healthily-vit c/vit b compnd supps, milk thistle etc).

    Debtmonkeys detox smoothie!

We all know how hard it is to get your '5 a day'...try this

    200ml fruit juice
    1 apple chopped
80-100gm frozen red berries (cheap at aldi!)
    1 small bananna
    Optional-a few tablespoons yoghurt

BLITZ in blender for 2 minutes with an ice cube or 2...

FULL of anti-oxidents! Good for the liver...& CHEAP! Thats 4 of your 5 a day!
