Thank you Miss Piggy.:kisses3: It is part of my illness that I have abrupt mood changes. I don't mind the "up" moods. I just try and take advantage of them when they do occur.:o

I have lots of veggie to use up in my fridge so I think I will make a veggie shepherd's pie or an aubergine and chickpea curry tonight. I did see this really nice recipe for vegetables in a satay and coconut sauce the other day. I always try and spoil myself with yum food on a AF day.:D

Cooking nice meals and then enjoying them is indeed a great substitute for boozing, I agree.

Last night I made posh bangers and mash. Posh because the sausages were venison, the mash was mashed with wholegrain mustard anbd peas, and the gravy was made from scratch with beef stock, the juices from the sausages, a glass of the red wine my dad gave me and onions and mushrooms.

It took an age to make but was delicious in the end. I was so full afterwards that I put the cork straight back into the bottle of wine so now I've still got three quarters of it left for some other time.

I'm watching The Hotel Inspector just now and they've been cooking and eating bnig English brekkies and it's making me hungry......I'm a vegatarian, but i LOVE bacon.......and all the other scrummy English brekkie things....

You can buy vegetarian bacon in most Holland & Barretts.:) I usually cut it into pieces and fry in hot oil and it goes all crispy. I make a vegetarian breakfast with it along with toast, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, vegetarian sausages, baked beans and hash browns.

    I am sooo greedy lol.:o:D

I think I've worked a way round my work IT system so spent the last hour catching up with Waterloo Road on bbc player! Not brave enough to log on here though...just in case!

I suppose you can always call Waterloo Road work-related research jo:rotfl:

 to treepotato1. I'll echo what everyone else says about this being a great thread for support. Avoiding the booze aisle when shopping or doing internet shopping instead might help you. There are lots on here that find having no booze in the house helps a great deal. Like debtmonkey says lots of us take various supplements to. I know some have proven worth (like Milk Thistle) but I think I just take them because it sets the tone for the evening.

Good to hear you sounding upbeat 115K. I'm sure doing something about your problems has to make you feel better.

Brokepaolo, sorry to hear about your dad but you and your sister deserve:T for doing your very best which is all you can do. Wine sounds lovely but.....I'm not drinking tonight. Must take Kudzu in a moment.

    Back later.

    Hello chaps

Popped head in to say hi to old faces (non wrinkly type - well aside mine anyway) and hi to new shiny faces - Waves up to Maman. xx

Stick with this thread it rocks!!

When it comes to avoiding wine aisle - a frequent topic on here - I changed the time I shop - I'd never consider buying wine in the morning/lunchtime but at tea time or evening shopping it becomes magnestised and I look like an idiot having internal rants with myself whilst being pulled towards a bottle.

So changing the time/type of shop you go into might help - not all shops sell alcohol.

I don't have alcohol in the house - otherwise it sings to me to drink it and its not very tuneful.

The strangest thing just happened. I was crawling the walls for a drink when I got in and had to go to the shop, but I forgot when I got there *confused* now I'm back I'm crawling the walls again!

    Jo, that's hilarious!

I intend to 'forget' booze, when I next pass a pub :)

    How's your day been?

I'm starting to feel a quite a lot better - 5 days since my last drink.

It's taken a lot longer to recover, than it used to, and so it's obvious my body can't cope anymore.

Tidied up the flat a bit.

Called Alliance & Leicester, and asked them outright if they'd credit my current account, with £30 by way of compensation / gesture of goodwill, due to their error (admitted by a A&L rep last week) cancelling a payment, when they shouldn't have (long, boring story!).. They had left me without any dosh for 4 days, 2 weekends back, and charged me fees accordingly (I'd already asked for / had the fees refunded).

Anyway, I didn't really expect them to agree, to any form of compensatory payment, certainly not £30 (a figure that I'd plucked out of thin air!)

    ..and they did. Ahaaa!

I was amazed. My account was slightly overdrawn (due to my irrational thinking last week), so now, I'm in credit, and can get a bit of grub in.

Not even considering a drink. Not even a can of anything, and it feels good. Scary, but good.

    Enjoy your evening, everyone.

Hello and welcome treepotato. One of us is keeping scores for the month and then everyone who wants to sets up target for themselves of AF (alcohol free) days they are aiming to achieve in that month. Some people just want to see how they do without set target so go TF (target free). Just mention here in colour and bold your target and Miss P will add you to the list.

There are lots of other acronyms like DD (dear daughter) OH (other half) DH (dear husband) etc etc so just ask when you go along.

Oh and best one: not drinking WOMO (when on my own)

Hi everyone i didn't know about bold colours for my target sorry about that! At least i know now how to do it. Thanks for scoring Miss P unfortunately no AF days to record as yet but i will get there. Lot's of posts to catch up on very insightful and thought provoking......... Hope everyone is surviving:)

    Evening all!

Sat here at work...waiting for the same 2 drivers I'm always waiting for. I work 4-8 but can go home as soon as last drivers in and I've done all my figures etc.

Good news today...they've given us a 2.2% payrise and have now linked our holidays to length of service! So now I get 26 days a year!!!:T:T More pleased about the holidays than the payrise as they will come in very useful when Piglet at school and me and OH have to work out our holidays to cover school ones.

Wierd but I'm getting bells tonight. No particular reason..had a good day, Piglet been very good, works been fine etc. Odd how some days you get the urge and sometimes you don't!? I will resist though!!! (I hope!!:rotfl:)
