  • The AA meetings where I am, are always full of the same people (pretty much) week in, week out, as it's a pretty small town.

I do voluntary work in the town that I live in and attend AA meetings some distance away as I want to keep these two aspects of my life seperate.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

    Morning
AF last night can at last claim 1 !

Been reading Sim and GC's conversation. Thought provoking and honest.

One line that hits me right between the eyes from GC :

"people who fight addictions lose. People who accept them are more likely to recover."

So start at the top of the mountain, instead of thinking you have to climb all the way up.

    TY Sim and GC.

    Absolutely shattered :undecided

Went for a meal with my old work crowd last night, table booked for 7.30pm and I thought I'd probably be in by 9.30pm but one of the ladies was taken ill, she fainted, she said it was the heat (she's 74) but I wasn't convinced, she was very grey. She recovered and then done it again! The restaurant manager insisted on calling an ambulance even though she didn't want one, we waited an hour and a half and it didn't come because they were busy (you can see the hospital from the restaurant!). Anyway hoping she's okay today.

Before that happened though, had a lovely time catching up with my old office mates. Oh and just so you know, I didn't go with the retro menu...completely.....had butterfly king prawns coated in a coconut crumb with some salsa type stuff, ribeye steak with chips and mushrooms and an eton mess and a plain floater coffee, all washed down with 2 pints of orange juice and lemonade

Hope you all have a lovely day, spose I'd better be off to work :(

    xx

i'm going shopping today, always used to get alcohol on shopping day, wont be doing that today, i used to attend AA too, but stopped when i moved house, i find the big book really helpful when things are tough,
hope everyone has a great day the sun is shining here in cambridgeshire, can remember on 'hangover days' just wanting to stay in bed all day,
my last really bad hangover back last september was a turning point for me i thought i was going to die, im not going to lie and say ive been sober since because i havent, but.. feel alot better, more positive , stronger, i guess, better go and get that shopping in ..

Good morning all......and well done Jo, DC and Shaggy.....and anyone else AF last night.

Some great posts on here last night.
I remember way way back on thread one or two there was a discussion about if you thought you were an alcoholic or not....(I know this caused quite a bit of arguement at the time)......but I remember then saying that I thought I was.
I am not sure even now if I was/am an alcoholic but I have lived my life since then as if I am and this has helped me to be Alcohol free for over two years.

People....if you were around on here then and are still struggling maybe you need to have a re-think and as GC says ' Stop fighting your addiction and accept it.'
The world is a so much nicer place when you are continuously sober.

Good luck and Take Care of YOU

    Hi all :)

Not got time to say much but justwanted to record the fact that I only had 2 glasses of wine last night; a small one then a large one, which I poured about half or so away. It's not AF but it's the least I've drunk in a long time

    muchos bearhugs
