But I did it as a BIG test to myself that I can do it.
My two options tonight are, an early night or a very good film to take my mind off the fact that I don't have a glass of wine in my hand. I've been fine up until now because the boys have kept me busy. But both in bed now, so the REAL bells chime loudly
Well done FH, luckily I don't pass my normal shop on the way back from work or I would really struggle.
Sadly to say, the ironing mountain always helps me out when the bells ring! This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -

So many people are so positive when not drinking, and miserable when they are drinking. That tells me something.....
Remember alcohol is cunning, baffling and powerful.
It creeps up when our backs our turned
That is very true and sums up exactly how I feel

Well done FH. I can't advise on how to get past the bells as I'm not good at it myself but I hope you find something good to watch and its not too long until bed time so only a short time to go and you will have made it
You'll be so pleased in the morning0 -
Just remembered something else
I feel real now I am AF - this is who I am and this is my personality and I like it
Now will remember this as I really felt it after a few AF weeks this time and I guess I don't miss alcohol at all and I don't feel I am missing out on anything and only considered drinking on a work do because everyone else would be and would slip into the old comfy night out drinking coat again as its cunningness wrapped me up again
Feel better about it all now - thanks GC for the reminderfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

Thanks DB but it didn't happen over night. Here is my first post to this thread on 29/8/2009:
"Hello all,
I have quarter of litre sherry in the cupboard and I shall drink it tonight while catching up with this thread. I just promised BF that I won't buy any more so I could use all the help available. All soppy details I am sure will follow...
Marru"
Over time it has been getting easier and easier and then due to the increased energy I have been able to fill my life with other things that give me more pleasure than drinking and hence the positive circle kicks off.
Still haven't had that sparkling AF thing as I fancy having a cup of tea first. Off to put the kettle on..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I've done all manner of daft things (not all drink related but sure it played a part!)...
Don't beat yourself up...its only a liquid (best way i look at it!)....you're doing voluntary work & do recognise you've an issue with the old booze...I once 5 years ago (during a real down patch!) raided the penny jar just for ONE bootle of white lightening cider (!)
Keep smiling!
Hi DM1A,
Hope you're having a relaxing evening.
Thanks for your words.
I'm starting to feel a little better, having made a start on tidying up my flat.
You're spot on regarding the beating myself up. I've heard many people tell me, over the years, that I do this way too much.
Booze is also 'only a liquid'.
However, it will kill me, if I don't stop, and the sensations I've been getting in my head this last weekend (sort of an out of body experience - scary as f_ck) as well as the ridiculous amount of money wasted / phone sold, blackouts, and inability to even remember 99% of 3 days.. Well, things will get worse, if I carry on.
I've worked with some of the guys at the homeless charity, who've lost everything, due to booze, bad luck, drugs, or all three, and it's very humbling. Worryingly, last week, not even that stopped me getting so hammered, I could only vaguely remember getting to the hotel room.
I would dearly love a family one day, as well as genuine friends (who don't just call when they want to get pished!) and that isn't going to happen if I keep this madness up.
The fog is starting to clear, after lots of rest today, thankfully. The regret and self - loathing may take a while to shake off.
Watching the ever - cool Idris Elba in 'Luther' should be good trashy fun tonight, and always cheers me up. Such a great Actor

This isa VERY unusual occurance in my house. There is no ironing
I'm away to watch Miss Potter. Hopefully it will grab my attention until 10pm. I can then say it's bedtimeNeed to start again0 -
Sim: Have a look at my signature, what small difference can you do today so that your tomorrow is not same as your yesterday. It is pointless worrying about yesterday as doing that you are just repeating it and tomorrow will be no different. Look who is talking but that is why I put it into my signature to remind myself."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
