Sorry to hearyour news sim, can only echo the 'fresh, new, sparkly day tomorrow' that others have said. I don't know if you've thought about triggers yet. If it's 'get money/buy booze' then perhaps you need to use money to pay off debts/buy food/buy bike or whatever as soon as you get it before it goes over the bar. PLEASE get back on the wagon PDQ.
Not AF here, been out for the day, wine with lunch and more tonight but not to great excess.

Hope all of you are well.
I am feeling c r a p, after drinking all day Monday and Tuesday, and getting through £130 :-/
F@cked up my appointments today too (CAB, Doctors, Dentists), and have postponed starting work at the homeless charity (boss is understanding).
Girlfriend is coming over and kindly bringing grub, as I haven't eaten hardly anything for two days.
Am at the end of my tether guys. Gutted for wasting money and health, after going nearly 2 1/2 weeks sober.
Don't know how to do this anymore. Feel so sad.
Sim x
I know how you feel. I used to feel like that. Rotten, broken, full of fear, self-pity, self-loathing, shame, regret, resentment, etc
It's a horrible place to be
Eventually I knew I couldn't give up by myself - I needed help from experts. So I went to meetings. I went to one everyday for 90 days or so. It was the priority. It had to be. And I had a full time job, and family with small children.
I realise now that ANYTHING I put before sobriety I will eventually lose.
I didn't want to go to meetings and ask for help. I wanted to stop drinking my way (using hope and will power). It never worked for me.
The minute I reached out for help was the start of recovery. A slow process, but if it means I never have to feel like that again, it's hardly a sacrifice.
Like exercise, the more you do it, the better you get and the more you enjoy it. However, you have to really want it and be willing to do anything. Some people go out and try to quit by themselves some more. It rarely works for them. Then they come back again more broken, in more pain.0 -

'night all
That's good advice to someone rational. However alcoholism makes someone irrational.
Why did I go on the slash the night before a job interview? I knew I shouldn't, but I did. Totally irrational behaviour. That's alcoholism.
Why do people continue drinking when they cannot afford it and it's damaging their health? Irrational behaviour again.
Addiction causes people to make irrational and often bad decisions.
Trying the same old thing again and again will not get rid of alcoholism. We only have to count how many people have said they need to 'be more vigilant' , 'never drink again' etc to see that a method which hasn't worked for a year or more is unlikely to start working now. It can happen, but is rare.
I love reading the joy of people's posts when they are AF. When they drink again, they rarely sound so buoyant. Logic says if they feel better when AF, they should stay AF. But not everyone can.
If someone tried to do 4 days without smoking cigarettes, but couldn't manage it, I'd say they were probably addicted.
If someone tried to do 4 days without heroin, but couldn't manage it, I'd say they were probably addicted.
There are some people who cannot do 4 days without alcohol. They may be addicted, they may not be. It's for them to decide.0 -

ShaggyWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
