I had a consultation with a dermatologist at a local private hospital. I had one mole and one wart type growth on my face. The consultation cost me £130. He said he would shave the wart and freeze the mole - he joked that he would be doing two for the price of one! His cost would be £130 and the hospital would charge a further £171 for 15 minutes treatment room use (bill £198 including sundries). I decided to go ahead all went well but after the procedure he told me I may need to return for a further freezing application after 3 weeks as it was quite a large mole. This was a total shock. I had accepted the £460 cost adding a further £230 I hadn't anticipated.
Two weeks on the wart (shave) removal has healed nicely but the mole doesn't actually look any different in size. I'm very disappointed and don't feel I got the result I paid for - I would never have gone ahead if I had been quoted £700 at the outset.
Anyone considering something like this must make sure they a written price for the total treatment at the outset.0 -
Hi
After reading this thread thought I would share my recent experience with you all.
I had several moles removed about 12 days ago at the Nottingham Laser Clinic. Although the staff are very friendly and Dr Maini will talk you through the procedure thoroughly and he is very calming and friendly, as I was very nervous! I would recommend you get a clear price of how much the entire treatment will cost you as I was charged a lot more than originally quoted, over the phone. Get any costs emailed to you or on paper. The recovery treatment for me, is very slow but then I am probably a slow healer so hopefully in the next few days the scabs will start to drop off. I am on day 12 of my recovery and only 1 had dropped off. The procedure itself is painless, except anesthetic is slightly uncomfortable in areas such as lower legs. At the moment I don't know if I have just wasted an awful lot of money or whether it was a success. Time will tell over the next few weeks!0 -
Hi there,
I thought I would come back and reflect.
I went to snowberry lane clinic in Bournemouth about two and half weeks ago. It's a bit soon to tell how it will turn up because it takes a few months until it gets to the same colour of the skin. I had surprises concerning the price, but good ones.. I knew it's going to be expensive but they offered to shave a bit off the price to get a nice round number (honestly I didn't ask but every little helps).
The crew was nice and the whole process was fairly quick and easy so there's nothing to be stressed about really (excluding the anesthesia ..god I hate needles).
So far everything looks good, healing slowly but I am expecting good results on most of them.
Still can't completely recommend it but once it heals I will come back and tell you if the results are as promising as everyone promise.0 -
After months trying to make my mind up wheather to have my moles removed yesterday I took the pludge.
I went to the snowberry clinic just outside Bath.
I had 13 moles and one skin tag removed from my face, the staff were very good and the doctor explained what he was going to do, then into the op's room a few injections then the moles were removed. No pain just feels like a little buzz on your skin. I had 2 really large ones under my nose but they have now gone at last no more cuts when I shave.
In short don't put it off any longer if you want moles removed then get them done now.
We even had a nice day out at Bath and the Avon canal afterwards
Its now 18 hours after the procedure and they are healing up nicley.
They will scab up but as I put on the cream it's so nice to feel level skin at last :j0 -
I have had 3 moles removed via radiosurgery today. One has bled quite a bit and I have had to change the plaster although doctor said I should leave the plasters for about 2 days. Did this happen with anyone else? Did people have to replace plasters? How ling did you wear them for?0

I had moles removed 3 weeks ago, they were very large ones but I didn't have to wear a plaster the wound was more like a graze. I was given a cream which I used for 7 days then stopped. After then I used normal moisturiser cream.
I started to shave 2 days later but they didn't bleed at all0 -
I had a mole removed yesterday morning via radio surgery. The procedure went fine, it was slightly uncomfortable, but painless. The wound bled non stop for about 12 hours. I changed the plaster before going to bed, and in the morning it bled a bit more and was weeping, so I had to change the plaster again. 36 hours later it has stopped bleeding and weeping. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it normal to bleed this much, and will it still heal normally?0

I thought it may be helpful for me to post details of my experience of radiosurgery mole removal.
I chose to use the Nottingham Laser Clinic (it's recently changed it's name, off the top of my head I think the new name is something like Zenith but I could be completely wrong!) due to it not being too far travel-wise and also I liked the idea of no bleeding as we were due to go and visit friends that same afternoon for the weekend.
I read up as much as I could on the website then called for further advice on what to do next. I was asked to e-mail a few pictures over and that the doctor would take a look to see if it was something he could help with. A few days later I called to follow up my e-mail and was advised the clinic could definately remove my moles. I planned on having 8 removed in total (7 on my face and 1 on my neck). The biggest was 1cm and was in the middle of my cheek. I know 1cm is tiny in the grand scheme of things but my moles have bothered me for a long time.
I was able to get an appointment for the next day so didn't have too much time to get over excited. When I arrived, I had a consultation with the nurse and she took pictures of all 8 moles and marked them up ready for the doctor. What threw me the most was that I was told that there may be some bleeding and that I would have a plaster over each mole that I would need to keep on for 2 days. In hindsight I wished they would put this kind of info on the website. (Our friends were very understanding that weekend and looked after me very well!)
The numbing injection in each mole hurt like anything and I needed more than one in the biggest mole. The only thing I can compare the machine used to do the removal with, is a sparkler from fireworks night ... not that I've ever put a sparkler to my face!! But there was the burning sensation of the removal and what felt like sparks either side. A really odd sensation and at times really painful. There were a few tears!
ALL of my moles bled and some of them bled an awful lot. Within 45 mins of leaving the clinic, I had to change the plaster on the biggest mole and ended up changing all the plasters several times over the 2 days of having to wear them. The wounds scabbed over nicely and now I am left with 8 pink marks which I can easily cover with foundation. I am returning in November for a follow up/check up.
I am very, very pleased I've had it done, but would warn people they could well experience bleeding and be aware you will need to wear plasters for 2 days over the wounds.0 -
Hi, I thought I would add my thoughts too. My experience was pretty similar to Mrs Gibbo. I had bumps and a mole removed from my face.
I am very squeamish about needles especially on my face, however I closed my eyes. The injection was very uncomfortable but you have to think that you have to do this to get the result you want.
Once I had the injections I did not feel anything when the removal was taking place, I closed my eyes and could breathe a burning smell but it wasn't painful for me. After we had finished, plasters were put on and I was given further plasters in case they needed to be changed. I did have to do this as I too had a lot of bleeding. The plasters were left on for a further two days. After that I had quite bright scabs which broke down and were probably off after 8 days. (I planned to do this just before I went on holiday - it did make me feel self conscious so be aware of that and that you mustn't go into the sun with the scabs.)
Initially the areas were quite depressed and quite pink, but since then the skin has continued to repair and the areas are building up and less pink and two are almost unnoticeable with make up (It's only been 3 weeks!).
I do think the 3rd may not be as flat as the others in time but may look like a chicken pox scar - but to be honest I would be happy with that rather than what they were initially.
I am very pleased with the result.
I paid £350 for the first mole and the procedure - plus £50 for each further treatment ie. £450 in total for 3. I am due to go back in 4 months time and if any further treatment is needed this will be done without further cost.
I think if you are looking for a total repair this is not 100% guaranteed but if you would rather have anything other than a mole or a bump and could put up with a chicken pox scar at the worst this would be a good option.
