Laser mole removal?
Comments

Hey, Ive been following this thread for awhile now and it seems people have had mixed results with mole removal. I want a dark brown slightly raised mole removed off my face and was wondering if anyone had any success with the shave excision of a dark brown mole as i've heard the pigment can come back. I'd be really grateful to hear about peoples experiences of this as I am very worried about ending up with something worse than i've already got.0

does anyone have any information or advice on The Mole Clinic in London? Or any southern clinics which are well recomended and rival the well documented laser treatment in Nottingham?0

Hi Becs,
I had about 5 moles removed about 6 months ago. 3 from my body for medical reasons (there have been visable scarring) and 2 from my face for cosmetic reasons.
I hated the 2 rasied dark moles on my face and was very self conscious of them. I had contemplated for years about having them removed but was really scared about scarring. one of the moles was 8mm in diameter (so pretty large).
I saw a dermatologist in Harley street, he suggested 2 options, the shave method and the incision method. Basically with the incision method, it will never come back again and that was the one I opted for and I have never looked back.
6 months on, the results have been amazing. You'd never know I'd had anything done to my face. There is practically no scarring. I'd have to point it out to you where the procedure had been carried out, and on very close inspection you may notice a slight blemish.
The doctor did warn me about potential scarring, but for me, I've had amazing results, and wished 'I'd done it sooner. My face has definitely healed the best compared to the other moles I had removed from my body. The procedure was very expensive though. PM me if you have any questions.0 -
My 11 year old son has multiple moles on his face and back which he is very conscious of, and we are now looking into radio surgery to have them removed (with the approval of his doctor). I have contacted Snowberry Lane who have informed me that they will be getting a license to treat children over 12 any day now. Just a couple of questions for anyone who has had this treatment:-
Is it better to have it done in the winter rather than the summer because of sun exposure?
How long would it be before his face healed enough for him to return to school. (He has about 20 on his face which he would like removed).
We are just trying to decide when it would be best for him to have this procedure and would appreciate any info or advice from people who have experienced it. Many thanks.something missing0 -
It's important for you to look at the type of the moles your son has.
Clinics tend to over-sell that technique.
It not effective on flat moles, only on raised ones and only if they don't differ a lot from skin colour.
Reason is, the raised moles are removed (flatten to skin level) and colour comes back after a while.
You may be wise to consider doing it the traditional way, incision, because even though he is going to have scabs for about three months - the face's skin tend to heal extremely well and it's not likely scars will be very visible. Try to get a recommendation for a good dermatologist to get an honest opinion.0 -
Ugh I'm at split ends over this issue. I've got a handful of (raised) moles I'd like to ditch but even after reading this entire thread, I'm not sure on my options. Not sure on the risk of spending a heap of cash and ending up with blemishes that are just as bad as the moles themselves, or worse - having them regrow!
Luckily, none are on my face and I'm not 100% fussed if I'm left with a tiny scar, although I'd rather it be pale / skin coloured and not mole coloured!
I actually had a mole removed from my hip when I was about 15, it was done for free by a doctor on the NHS - he simply burned it off with liquid nitrogen although it wasn't completely removed and now I'm left with a pink/brown half-scar-half-mole o_O
I live in London and would (obviously) rather be treated here (if at all), but was almost convinced to go to Nottingham until I'd read mixed reviews about the place...... just don't know what to do.....
any advice, folks?0 -
I have been reading this thread with interest and been researching the best possible way for removing a pigmented, slightly raised mole on my jaw line which is about 1cm in size. I have always been self concious about my mole and have decided I want rid of it once & for all. I am now contemplating the best way to go. I Previously tried to have it removed using the shaved option after being refered to a dermotologist through the NHS, unfortunalty the results were dissapointing the mole just scabbed over, once the scab cleared up the mole remained only a slightly different shape than before. This was some time ago & i'm now considering returning. Im thinking maybe the incision option would have been better as the mole is only slighlty raised. Have also spoken to Nottingham laser clinic over the telephone & read all posts concerning them. I feel this could be a good option but its quite costly & to be honest Im concerned about waisting my money. I'm not particularly bothered about having a slight scar as I feel this would be better than the mole, although no scar at all would obviously be better. Can anyone advise me if I should stick with NHS or would the results be £300's worth better by using NLC.0

Hi Yaubelle
Wow that sounds really good! I hope my results end up that good. Can I ask how long your scar was? I saw a plastic surgeon who said the scar would be twice then length of the mole. However, ive done some reading an in places it says the scar would be 3x the length so now im confused :S:S.0 -
Hi thought I'd let people know I've just had this done in case it helps the undecided. Had what I felt to be a large raised mole on my face. Have always hated it and after much debate and first reading about radio surgery at nlc 2 years ago I decided to go for it and have it removed.
My appointment was Friday (it's now Wednesday) and so far I'm very pleased with the result.
Dr Maini was comfortingly arrogant in his abilities. My husband sat in and agreed I should go ahead. My face is now level with no raised mole! The scab has formed. Clear instructions were given for after care to minimse chances of any scarring. The scab isn't really red or raised and crusty like when you cut yourself. Think more friction burn probably.
So far I'm glad I've done it but obviously don't know what the end result will be like!
Hope that helps someone!0 -
