this is beyond a joke now. I have today sent the following to her husband via facebook messages:
    Hi xxx,
I hope you don't mind me contacting you, it's a last resort before we seek legal advice.

Lesley offered to help us with a charity stitching project and in good faith we have sent our cross stitches to her.

We have not heard from her now since June/ July and would like our squares back so we can get it finished from a more trustworthy source.

Companies and designers have supplied resources on a promise the quilt will be made and auctioned for charity. We have attempted to contact her on all e-mail address and her home address but with no response.

Please ask her to contact me through here or money saving expert by 6th September or legal action for theft will be my only option.

    Many Thanks.
    xxx (Chickywiggle on MSE)
sorry to anyone who thinks this sounds offensive but I think it is our only option left.

    ohhh getting somewhere now, reply:
    Hi,
No I don't mind you contacting me at all. I'll have a word with her and make sure she either gets them back to you or does something with them for you.
I apologise on her behalf and I will find out what is going on and get her to contact you directly.
    Thanks

    will keep you updated

I got a reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see below:
    Hi chickywiggle.
I am so sorry it has took me so long to reply. Life has been a bit busy and I've been in and out of the country with work unexpectidly.

I am sorry if I've given everyone a heart attack, I never ment to.
If you want me to send the squares onto someone else please let me know their address and I will do so straight away.

I've tried over 12 different fabric shops (both online and nearby) and they all seem to have the same standard answer- that a lot of people ask them for donations so they are unable to help but they will keep me informed of sales.

With this in mind my plan was to buy a couple of single duvet covers from asda and chop them up to make the quilt with.

    Sorry again.

I have asked for the squares to be posted to me (if that is ok with people). I will blag fabric off freegle (hopefully) and ask on my local forum for a local quilting/ sowing group to see if they can help us out.

If I have no luck after say a couple of weeks would someone else be kind enough to try their city and I will bundle anything I have up and post to you.

If you have any outstanding squares please PM me and I will send you my address.

Lets get this moving again eh,
    fingers crossed.

this is my local forum plea......... does it read ok??
    Hi all,

here is a big plea but one that would be soo much appreciated.

I am looking for a sowing (perticulary quilting) group in xxx, preferably xxx area (or city centre) as I have no car, but can travel any evening (except Monday) to anywhere on the tram routes.

Back in April a group of cross stitchers, myself included, on moneysavingexpert.com decided it would be nice to stitch a quilt for charity.

We gained persmission from Martin Lewis (of TV fame) to run this and he would auction it off for us. His legal team were involved and okayed it all and Margaret Sherry the Cross Stitch designer gave us permission to use one of her designs and asked to be kept informed.

We managed to find a quilter on there who could put the finished project together with the help of others on her forum and in the area.

An internet website Sewandso were fantastic at supplying all our cross-stitch materials from needles to aida.

Unfortunatly our quilter has been overrun with work and unable to complete her side of the task, however she just went AWOL and it has taken me 2 months to get this information from her.

I am BEGGING for a group in Sheffield to put a couple (ok a month?) aside to help me complete this project as I am reluctant to let it out of my hands again. Perhaps you meet once a week and would be more then happy to help this good cause? I can cross stitch but can't sow a button on let alone stitch a quilt. However I will be more then happy to come along and make the tea/ bring cakes.

In return I will stitch you a square with the name of your group on to go onto the finished quilt and also mention your name in any publicity I am able to secure (however no promises can be made what this will be at present).

ALSO (sorry) if ANYONE can help out with the materials that would be SOOO appreciated and of course I can promise you the same publicity as the quilters (perhaps you are a local shop that would like this??)

Thank you in advance, this is such a genuine request..... the thread is here if you are wishing to check up.... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=2424617

I can be contacted on here or through MSE whichever is easiest for you.

Can I just mention that the designer is Joan Elliott, not Margaret Sherry? Apart from that, well done! It'll be good to get this going again.

Sounds great chicky :) I thought there was another quilter on here and Bubbles Mum also? it's been a while since it was all discussed. I do understand you not wanting it out of your sight though, lets hope we can get it completed before christmas as it would be a great time to auction it, thanks for keeping us updated.

No problem. I have been following your thread on the quilt from the beginning and I do understand your frustration.

I can no longer cross stitch and understand the hard work and time that goes into each one. I do still sew but quilting is something I have never done and your project is not something I would like to start to learn on. :A
