Morning all,
sorry I disappeared after asking my question yesterday - thanks for the answer MFDI ended up with a day of drama!
I had a doctors appointment for bubs yesterday morning, where the doctor confirmed that she had a touch of exema. We had been given a moisturiser and a bath emolient at our 6 month check a few days ago for dry skin. All well and good, or so I thought.
About 10.30am, a rash started developing across Elenas body and face, and it didn't disappear when I tested it! I took her down to the doctors surgery, and filled in a form saying yes, I needed an emergency appointment, and what it was for, and was told I would have to wait a bit as all the nurses were busy. Thankfully bubs was her usual chatty self, but she did end up falling asleep on my lap. 80 minutes later  I went to see how much longer we would have to wait - to be asked by the receptionist "what, are you still here?!?" Saw a nurse, who immediately told me that she wasn't qualified to deal with this and that I should have been told that at reception when I booked in, and to come back in the afternoon! She did confirm that she didn't think the rash was anything sinister, and made me an appointment.
So, back again in the afternoon to see the senior nurse. She thought it might be to do with her exema, and asked if I'd used anything different - I said we had used the bath emolient that had been prescribed, and she immediately said that would have been it, as it had lanolin in it and often people with exema have an allergic reaction to lanolin! So she has prescribed us something else which I will pick up today. My poor baby has a rash all over her body from the bath stuff, and it better not have damaged her as she had lovely skin otherwise!
Sorry, rather a long postbut I'm still a little annoyed by it all: the long wait (I thought a baby with a rash might have had a bit higher priority!), and the fact that manufacturers put lanolin in a bath wash for kids with exema when it often goes hand in hand with a lanolin allergy.

Lily has cradle cap. Its quite alot of it to.
How can i help it along? I read that you can put baby oil or Vasaline on it overnight and then wash it off in the morning. But she's very hairy and it would mean covering her actual hair in oil/jelly.
Hi EA,
I've been using aqueous cream on Elena. I rub in on her head just before her bath, and let it soak in while I wash her. Then I just wash it out at the end of the bath. Next day, I take a little soft toothbrush and rub her head with it, and it lifts lots of the cradle cap. It's working wonders for her.0 -
Oh gods, Squishy, how scary for you!
I'm glad she's ok and hope you're recovered from the drama?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Morning all.
I've just won tickets for the last night of the Liverpool Comedy Festival on the local radio. :j:j A list of people are on, the most famous being John Bishop. And its for the week after OH's birthday so thats his birthday night out planned.
Squishy  at your Dr's - that must have been scarey for you. Glad everything is ok.
EA I think I was told rubbing a little olive oil in her hair, then washing it off in the morning helps it?
Are you using shampoo on Lily? I don't know if there is any truth in it, but I blame it for cradle cap. J & L were both bathed every night and their hair washed, and they both had cradle cap. V is only bathed when she starts to smelland her hair just rinsed with water (unless there is some crusty food in it), and she's not had it!
Hammy Have a lovely time! You really should be packing now. And well done for comando crawling. :T
Elle Poor Rhys. He'll soon learn how to get off the sofa without nosediving! V can get down the steps at the front and back door now safely!
She cut her lip last night though. She was crawling and her legs went faster than her arms and she nosedived into the fireplace. It all looks ok now.
MFD We had a walk around the house last night, each holding the end of a wooden spoon. She took two steps on her own before she realised i'd let go, then fell to her bum.
Susan I suspect it's very quiet because SM and MM are missing. It's obviously them doing all of the chatting. :rotfl::beer:0 -
Thanks aless & Susan, the toy was pap and i didn't have much to say on it anyway. It is like a platform that collapses when you press and button, a on top is a ball flicker thing. He found it fun for about 5 minutes and it's not been played with since.
Rang my docs at 8:20am and no appts left :mad:0 -
Oh the shame of showing the cleaner around the frankly unclean house
Morning all! Lovely Molly pics SS, really goodwe had some lovely ones from E at 4 months old and we've been saying ever since "we must get them done again now he's older"...somehow never happens!

She does seem to be a bit better today: the redness in the rash is going down, but her skin is still all roughJust have to keep slathering her with moisturiser! I'm okay today too, but still a bit ranty and considering writing to the bath emolient producers and asking why they use nasty lanolin derivitives in their products instead of hypo-alergenic stuff which is fine, especially when they market the product as for childrem with exema!

Talking of MM, I heard from her last night. Course is long and boring, and she's got no signal where she is during the day so can't reply to any texts, just in case anyone's mistakenly under the impression she's actually paying full attention to her course0

Yeah, well we bath her once a weekWe wash her hair when she's bathed with johnsons as its always greasy! As she has so much hair and its getting longer now, people feel the need to run their greasy hands and fingers through it. And it starts to smell
