Lol i used to work with a chef who was allergic to everything, he couldn't taste any of his own food but he was actually a really great chef. I don't think he was allergic to meat. Even most medicines and some materials like latex etc.
We used to tell him he should just shoot himself and put himself out of his misery LOL

Sorry I didn't mean to start a mini-debate, I did warn that I was sticking my oar in unsolicited
. I think weaning & BF/FF are 2 things guaranteed to cause heated discussions, but that's just how things go. I was more referring to people like EA's post on the 12 week old spitting out food...that really makes me so angry and I just feel sorry for the baby.
But I'm going to bed now, so enough from me. Besides, MFD is saying it better than I did (and can). And every time I type another sentence trying to explain myself, it comes out totally wrong so I shall stop. No one needs to try and defend their weaning choices because that is not at allllllll where I was going.
:o:o
oh and also, strawberries with balsamic vinegar is supposed to be quite nice as well

Oddly strawberries with black pepper and brie sounds good, maybe cos it sounds like a starter rather than a dessert trying to trick me with secret savouryness :rotfl:Mummy to

I went to school with a girl like that Beenie... Her eyes were always swollen shut with a reaction to something new lol... She's a nurse now... Must have latex free gloves on her ward

Well I'm not pregnant... And there is a big circle around todays date in the calendar just to remind me... No more wondering next month... Hopefully!
ETA: Strawberries should be nothing but british and eaten completely alone (or maybe with a bit of cream) Don't go tainting them with other flavours

Oops, didn't read the nuts part....does coconut count as a nut in the allergy stakes?
OH has a nut allergy and he said he's fine with coconuts.

Glam - I didn't read Aless' post as agressive at all. And how can it be having a go at Kindof when she expressly says she isn't?
And I am not aware of ANYONE on this thread who is strict about waiting until 6 months???? In fact I can only think of 1 or 2 babies who did wait until 6 months.
And my final point - I don't see how birth weight has anything to do with weaning!!! It has been mentioned a few times and every time I think !!!!!!???
I was strict about it but only with my own babies. Neither were weaned before 6 months as they were satisfied on milk alone and I wanted to leave it as long as possible.
And obviously birth weight was not an issue!! :rotfl:

There you go Em, at least if you serve up coconuts and he swells up you can blame it on EA's OH!
My best weaning/feeding advice is simple......buy an Antilop. It will be the best weaning move you make

Right, bed, now, definitely

That's why we are all different - I did read it aggressively.
Aless also said 'It really annoys me when people with 8 week (or whatever) old babies start getting all keyed up and automatically plan on shoving rice into their kid the second they hit 17 weeks or whatever.'
There's only a few people on here with younger babies.
I would have thought that a larger baby would require more nutrition at an earlier age - after all, E is already on 7ozs bottles and I don't think J was on them until about 16/17 weeks. Massive difference in their birth weights and IIRC EA's Lily is the same.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
MFD, we waited till after 6 months to introduce solids, because right around 6 months I had a work trip and didn't want to be faffing about with baby rice in a hotel with no kettle. If she'd seemed like it was very important earlier I'd have given it to her, it wasn't an ideological thing. Oh, and I mentioned weight because I think a normal portion for a 12lb baby is much different from a 9lb baby of the same age, so people can confuse normal portions for hungry babies simply because what's a normal portion for that big baby is not the same as the average portion for an average (smaller) baby IYSWIM.
Also, sliced strawberries marinated in balsamic vinegar and a bit of sugar, served with sliced mint leaves and black pepper, are awesome.
My poor Molly has been an epic crank tonight, finally got her down but she has drained both my boobs down to withered skinbags.
FWIW Aless I didn't think you were talking specifically about KOAG so much as people who start feeding their babies rice at 12 weeks even when all the food is clearly being rejected.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

What does IIRC mean?:o
Lily is finishing her 6oz bottles already so i think i need to put her upto 7ozs.
She stares at us when we eat and has a face that says "PURRLEASE CAN I HAVE SOME? PLEEEASE???"
