Alway's don't feel like a failure, your doing a fab job. Isla still feed's very frequently (normally within 90 min's of last feed ending) and at booby group they tried to explain it to me as some babies like to have a full tummy, let it empty fully then feed again. Other babies like a full tummy, let a little bit out then want to feed again to top them back upto full so they never have an empty tum feeling. Hope that make's sense, I'm trying to nurse and type!

Well, i'm sure when the weaning guidelines were 4 months, that not everyone force fed a baby that didn't need it. So maybe he's ready?

I gave Amber some baby rice yesterday, cos i had a bit of formula left in the carton from the night before. And she couldn't get enough of it  She was loving it lol. Might give her a bit more tonight. :D

krystal - your signature is sooooo timely with the breastfeeding helpline number as I am wits end. Tom was in our bed for the 3rd or 4th night in a row and screaming the place down if we put him in his cot as he's been feeding under every 2 hours for nearly 2 weeks now. I think he is having a mega growth spurt or something as I just don't seem to be able to keep him full and am feeling like a bit of a failure. Not to mention feeling like a zombie and irate 99% of the time, feel awful as snapping at DP and guilty as hell as feeling so cross with Tom, even though it's not his fault.

Listen to me sounding so sorry for myself, am off to catch up with all your smiley news.
Hi always, hugs for you, it sounds horrible, really draining. I hope there's someone lovely on the end of the phone :)

Hi BeenieCat. We in Durham. Have 2 boys - bet couldn't guess that one! One 5 year old, and one 5 week old. Had a bad time with the oldest when he was a baby, and latest has been such a chilled out boy, think i have been spoiled the last few weeks by him being so good ! Now he's making up for it.:o
:hello: I'm Durham too. (Well a village near Durham.)

Can you buy rear facing for bigger than stage 0? I know Susan supports it too, just didn't know much about it myself. Her blog led me to some sites which basically proved it's much safer to be rear facing, so why don't we do it in this country?
I think it's to do with demand - there isn't the demand here.
Is the only reason they suggest it so that they don't get whiplash? Sam hates facing backwards...and I know for me personally I get carsick facing backwards.
If you want to know more, I wrote about it here:
    http://sinnersavedbygod.blogspot.com/2009/03/keeping-kids-rear-facing-for-longer.html
We got the recaro polaric from Babyworld (http://shop.babyworld.co.uk/DisplayDetail.aspx?prodid=2019&secid=0). It is the only rear facing group one car seat which is made for this country (you can get others on import). They only stock this one because if there was a safety recall then they would know whereas if it was on import then they wouldn't. They have a showroom near Oxford which we visited so we could make sure it fitted our car before we bought it. I was very impressed as they actually seemed to know the car seat (unlike the people we'd dealt with at both Mothercare and Toys R Us) and they gave us the members discount even though we weren't members when they heard we'd come from the north east. (OH's parents live in the area so we visited them for a few days too.)
What 4 year old would sit in the car staring at the seats
A very weird one since they could look out of the window much more easily.

susan thanks for the linkie to your blog :)

Can I ask a few questions? (you know me!)

With Alice not facing you when you look round, have you managed to find any creative ways to keep checking in with her on long journeys? Or has it all been much easier now she can talk?

I'm tempted to go rear facing again after reading that info, but wondering how I'd hold fergie's hand, give him water, check temperature, hand him dummy or toy etc...

    We use this:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YBM2V0/ref=oss_product

which does rear-facing for a long time but also will turn front-facing, very positively reviewed. Still definitely rear-facing so far at 21 months! and he seems just fine with that.

I can easily reach over to do most of the things Weezl mentions needing to do sometimes!

    Wow!

*weezl marvels at Bruno's shoulder flexibility!*

Maybe we'll have an experiment this weekend :)

Do people think Kezzie should be behind DH (driver) and fergie behind me, or t'other way round, given their likely needs at 13 months and 6 weeks respectively?

EA, will PM you back shortly, just digging out some research for you :)

Always - hugs hun x sounds awful! T goes about 90min to 2 hours through the day but fortunatley not through the night cant imagine how drained you must be.Hope you get some good/helpful advice or answers.

EA - thats the week OH has off but havent actually asked him about it yet, so if you are able to do earlier that week then we should be good, but would need to just check with him first.

Just want to chime in with some car seat info, be sure to check which group 0 seat you have as there are 2. 0 and 0+ the first goes to 10kg the 2nd 13kg. I plan on keeping T in her group 0+ as long as poss as it is the safest way to travel but I wont get her a stage 2 rearward facing there to expnsive and a real faff, even the manufacturers say so. Those european countries that rear face till 4 years generally have a higher accident/fatality rate due to weather conditions and the like.

Well now have my 3rd coldsore in 2 weeks! totally fed up so called the doctor who has done me a script for some zovirax or something, also gonna get me some multivits cos am obviously run down and these will help make sure am at least getting a good balance of the important stuff. Dogs colar also bust today so cant walk him till I get a new one and dopey OH has taken the car so cant get to pet shop. So got that to do when he finnishes as well as getting to walk in centre to have manky finger cauterized and re dressed again.

Happy Birthday to Charlotte, hope you enjoy your pizza x

Hugs to those who need 'em and apropriate yeays and welldones to those hitting milestones x

Sheesh, wish they made car seats for people on a budget who are concerned about safety *rolleyes*. Will bookmark them anyway, thanks Bruno & Susan for the links :). We're nowhere near 20lbs yet, thankfully but still something to think about for the future.

Weezl, FWIW I think Kester should be behind DH the driver as then it's easier for you to reach him and for him to see you, right? Just my thought.
