There was at one point some research into the link between traumatic births and autism, though not sure if this has been completed. They had noticed a correlation between forceps/ventouse deliveries and autism, and were hypothesising that perhaps the autism was operating even at that early stage to prevent the unborn child understanding the signals to get into the optimum position to come down the birth canal.
My DD was a ventouse delivery, and was born looking off to one side, so if the theory is right, even in the womb she wasn't good at maintaining eye contact with anyone!
So rather, a traumatic birth is linked to them being Autistic as opposed to the other way about? Makes sence if the brain is already wired to be a certain way. But then, would that mean that some people are wired that way but manage to re wire themselves? (as in the case of brain damage to certain areas of the brain forcing new areas to take over those tasks)I just put the wrong flippen length in my email for my bridesmaids dresses, tooooo tired!!!
Aww huni, is it massively messed up or can you fix it?And I lost on the bidding with my shoes so stoopidly I'm crying so I'm off to bed with a drink and book. X
What were they like? Do you have a link and maybe we can track down something similar?0 -
Mmmmm, curry was eaten, very fast!
Just looking at the suitcases in the hallway is making me tired, so I have shoved them all against the wall and willl deal with them tomorrow...after hoovering and cleaning the hire car and returning it.
We managed to get our car back today too:j:j:j:j The guy phoned just as we were on the M62, to say it was ready and working.....so went straight through to Liverpool and collected it:) We then stopped off at Halfords and bought a Sat Nav as we had a bit of a shouting match when we got lost in York, and K chose that moment to start screaming for apparantly no reason, which ended up in dh pulling over and storming off out the car.......
Have flicked briefly back through a few pages got the gist that V is walking and Charlotte went big toilet on her own :T Clever girls :T

K has a patch of dry, rough skin on his torso any ideas on what it might be?? not sure what to put on it so have put a little baby lotion on tonight
Dunno, Amber has that right now. Too much time in vests? Johnsons moisturiser seems to work. It's been recommended to me but I thought it looked a bit arty-farty.
But, reading on, you've bought it. I'd be interested to see what you think.
J always has his hands over his ears, unless it's just him & me in the house.
I didn't 'do' BLW as that also sounds arty-farty to me. But I did put a bit of whatever I was having on her tray to eat. If she ate it good, but she enjoyed playing with it too.
I think the only things to worry about are honey & nuts at that age.
Will let you know, and can pass it on when I'm done
BLW sounds arty-farty to me too. I have a personal dislike of it due to another forum who harp on about it non stop and how it is the only way to do things. Specially as they then go on to say 'we used purees at the beginning but it's still BLW', no, it's not, thats just weaning?
And I'm not saying anything bad about BLW, I understand, and agree with it in principle, but I don't see that it is all that different from regular weaning, I mean, babies eat finger foods anyway. Just seems a bit too much like a fancy label and the new 'in' thing to do.
Big hugs Tia - go to bed xx
Ok thanks... but whyyyyyyyy do I need to go to bed Mum? I isnt even tired or nufink0 -
Theres a man on the telly wearing make up and he looks the airy-fairy type and I want him to cry because I just know it's waterproof mascara (he looks the type) and I bet he does full on snot too.0

Meh - I never called it BLW - my mother and MIL would have a fit!!!

Only yesterday - she suddenly decided to get up and walk! And I'm not saying anything bad about BLW, I understand, and agree with it in principle, but I don't see that it is all that different from regular weaning, I mean, babies eat finger foods anyway. Exactly! When J & L were babies, i'd put food on the highchair tray for them to pick up and eat. It was part of weaning before 'they' gave it a trendy new name!
I'm so bored!
OH is sat at the table doing his homework!:beer:0 -

If it is just dry skin, then Johnsons baby cream is fabulous. It's in a white tube and costs about 90p.
It's thick like expensive creams like Neutrogena. I get really dry hands and feet so I use it myself. I slap loads on before bed and wake up with lovely hands and feet
Charlotte is three next week and I still haven't lost my pregnancy weightFor those who don't know, I had the pregnancy from hell and developed SPD early on, polyhydramnious (way too much amniotic fluid) and very severe swelling in my legs. My ankles were the size of thighs and I had no movement in them and little movement in my knees, so I was almost imobile. Consequently I piled the weight on as I was just laying on the sofa comfort eating crap as I had so much to do, but couldn't actually move to do it!
Anyway I had a leaflet through the door about a fitness boot camp and they have classes just down the road from me. I'm seriously thinking about going but a bit nervous too. Has anyone else been to anything like that and how did you find it?Here I go again on my own....0 -
thanks again for the tips for his dry skin.
BLW- just calling it that so you know what i'm kinda on about but i'm just going to put food on his highchair, ignore him and see what he does with it. lol!!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
